Chapter 111
"How could this happen?" Madison gritted her teeth, watching Dakota and Cameron enter the hotel.
"Madison, what's going on? You should be gaining Ms. Jones's favor. How did it end up being Dakota?" Archie's frustration mounted. They had initially been excited to find Laura, hoping to win her favor, but things had unexpectedly gone wrong. Not only had they failed to please Laura, they had offended her.
"It's all that loser's fault!" Madison fumed. "If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have argued, and Ms. Jones's mood wouldn't have been affected!" In her eyes, Cameron's appearance had ruined everything.
"That jerk again!" Archie clenched his fists. Cameron always seemed to ruin his successes.
"What about Dakota? Why would Ms. Jones let her come to the hotel?" Archie was puzzled. Something felt amiss.
"Ms. Jones must have more than one plan in mind," Madison replied. "She's here in Yrando to establish projects; she wouldn't rely on just one business partner. She's carefully considered various options. Dakota's been getting close to Darth Holdings and Mr. Kane, so she's likely received Ms. Jones's special attention."
"If that's the case, our chances are slim," Archie sighed heavily.
"Yeah, it's all because of that jerk!" Madison gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with hatred. If Cameron hadn't appeared, Laura wouldn't have blamed her, and their chance at success wouldn't have been ruined.
"Damn it!" Archie shared her hatred. He saw no way to salvage the situation. Having angered Laura, she would favor Dakota even more, giving the Price family the perfect opportunity to rise, an opportunity now lost to them.
At that moment, a green military pickup truck approached the hotel entrance, catching Archie and Madison's attention. Lena, in camouflage, jumped out.
"Colonel Bailey?" Archie recognized her immediately. A colonel from the Capital Military Region! Why was she in Yrando? Had Laura called her?
As Archie pondered, Lena asked, "Did you see a man, about five foot nine, who looks like this?" She described Cameron.
"Cameron?" Archie immediately pictured him.
"Yes, him!" Lena's gaze sharpened. "Where is he?"
"He went into the hotel with Ms. Jones. He probably won't be leaving soon," Archie replied.
"Then I'll wait for him here," Lena said coldly.
Archie's heart stirred. Lena's demeanor suggested Cameron had done something wrong.
"Colonel Bailey, do you have business with him?" Archie asked.
"I have something to ask him," Lena replied. "Do you know him?"
"Uh not very well," Archie said, his mouth twitching.
"Then it's none of your concern." Lena returned to her car.
A hint of amusement played on Archie's lips. This was a stroke of luck! He'd been worried about ruining Cameron and Dakota's image with Laura. Now, with Lena's arrival, and Cameron's involvement, Laura would reassess them both, giving Archie and Madison another chance.
