Chapter 149

"Ms. Jones, are you waiting for someone?" Archie asked enthusiastically. His expression was flattering, a stark contrast to his previous gloom.

"Hello, Ms. Jones!" Madison also approached to greet Laura.

Laura's expression darkened. She frowned slightly at the unexpected arrivals, then relaxed and nodded. Despite her coldness, they felt nothing amiss; her indifference was well-known.

Archie continued enthusiastically, "Ms. Jones, I'm familiar with Yrando's influential figures. Do you need my help?"

"No need. I've already made an appointment," Laura replied calmly. Then, casually, she asked, "What are you doing here?" She was curious because Cameron was also present.

Archie and Madison, misinterpreting her curiosity as concern, were surprised. They hurriedly replied, "We just came for a meal, but"

"But what?" Her expression remained cool.

"But we met Cameron again! He insulted and bullied us, even getting the restaurant manager to kick us out!" Archie was indignant, hoping to worsen Laura's opinion of Cameron and Dakota.

"Cameron?" Laura's interest piqued. Otis's information was correct; Cameron was at Mellow Cloud Restaurant!

Archie, believing Laura was concerned about the restaurant incident, continued, "Yes, he's arrogant because Mr. Kane supports him! Mr. Kane even helped him get out of Colonel Bailey's prison! Ms. Jones, you must stay away from him! Colonel Bailey's arrest proves he's dangerous!" He was clearly trying to ingratiate himself.

"I see," Laura said calmly. "You should go back now. Thank you for telling me."

"You're welcome. It's our honor to help you!" Archie flattered her further.

She nodded slightly, then wound up the car window, wanting to avoid them. Thinking she was shielding herself from the sun, he whispered to Madison, "Let's go! Don't disturb Ms. Jones!"

"Okay!" They left quickly.

"Madison, who were you talking to?" Pia asked in surprise, noticing Archie's happy and excited demeanor.

"Mom, that was Ms. Jones!" Madison exclaimed.

"Ms. Jones?" Pia frowned, then gasped. "The young lady from the wealthy Jones family in Leving?"

"Exactly!" Madison said proudly. Meeting Laura was a great honor.

"I should greet Ms. Jones too!!!" Pia excitedly prepared to approach.

"Mom, no! Ms. Jones is resting. Don't disturb her!" Madison quickly stopped her.

"Alright." Though Pia wanted to meet Laura, she complied.

"But what is Ms. Jones doing here?"

"Ms. Jones is waiting for someone," Madison said.

"Waiting for someone? Who?" Pia's eyes widened. The person Laura was waiting for must be significant!

"I'm not sure." Madison shook her head. "Mom, let's watch from afar. Don't let her see us, or she'll think we're rude!"

"Got it!" They moved to the bus stop for cover, successfully hiding themselves from Laura's view. The distance was sufficient to observe her.

They waited patiently. After more than ten minutes, however, her meeting remained unfulfilled.

"Madison, why hasn't anyone come yet?" Pia asked.

"I don't know. Let's wait a little longer." Madison was puzzled. If the other party knew Laura was waiting, they should have arrived quickly.

Just then, Cameron and his companions emerged from the Global International Building, looking pleased.

"It's them again!" Madison frowned.

Laura, seeing Cameron from her car, became excited. [The passage abruptly ends here.]
