Chapter 160
Cameron felt puzzled. Seeing Laura's unusual demeanor, he couldn't help but ask, "Ms. Jones, are you suffering from some sort of terminal illness?" It was the only explanation he could think of. Otherwise, given her character and behavior toward him, she wouldn't have asked such a question.
"Terminally ill?" Laura was startled, then realized something. She smiled softly. "My health is good. I just want to know whether you'll still think of me if we never meet again." She looked at Cameron seriously.
He hesitated, wanting to say no, but he couldn't when he looked at her. Taking a deep breath, he pretended to be calm. "Ms. Jones, it's impossible to forget someone who has completely appeared in my life."
Laura felt slightly glad. Although Cameron didn't give a direct answer, she was satisfied. At least he wouldn't forget her.
"Ms. Jones, are you really okay?" Cameron frowned, finding it strange. With her character, she wouldn't ask such a question.
"Yes, I'm fine." Laura looked out at the beautiful beach scene with a small smile. "Cameron, do you like the scenery here?"
Cameron said casually, not understanding what Laura wanted. He didn't think she'd brought him here to enjoy the scenery.
"Then I'll hold the grand ceremony here in five days." Laura had made a decision.
"The grand ceremony?" Cameron jolted slightly.
Laura nodded. "I plan to book the waterfront and hotels here. This will be the venue. Will you look forward to it?"
"Why should I look forward to it?" Cameron frowned.
"Because the protagonist of this grand ceremony is you."
"Me?" Cameron was stunned. He hadn't expected Laura to reserve this waterfront for a ceremony in his honor.
"Ms. Jones, thank you for your kindness, but you don't need to do this. I don't need it." He took a breath and declined her offer. He didn't need her to make amends for her guilt, nor did he need this grand ceremony.
"Cameron, just accept it." Something flashed in Laura's eyes. "This is the last time I'll bother you. It'll also be the last time I see you. Just let me do something for you."
"I've said it. I don't need your alms," Cameron's tone turned cold. He felt irritated, unsure whether it was her attempts at amends or her impending departure that bothered him.
"Cameron, I'm not giving you alms. I just want to help you." Hearing his cold tone, Laura pleaded, "At the grand ceremony, I want to show everyone in Yrando how outstanding you are!"
Including that woman! She turned cold. When the time came, she would make Madison understand how outstanding the man she'd betrayed and abandoned was, and how stupid and ignorant she had been.
