Chapter 18
In the banquet hall, stillness hung in the air. All eyes were on Cameron and Blackheart. No one had ever known that Lord Blackheart had a superior—someone more formidable than himself. After all, Lord Blackheart was the richest man in the world, possessing seemingly infinite financial resources! He had come to Yrando to meet a mysterious bigwig. Could it be Cameron? Everyone was puzzled.
With a cold, steely face, Blackheart spoke slowly, "I hope what happened just now will not happen again. I only hope everyone can enjoy themselves on the Venizon Cruise!"
Everyone's hearts skipped a beat. A trembling hand rose. Someone asked, "L-Lord Blackheart, is this Mr. Morgan the mysterious big shot you've invited?" Their curiosity was palpable.
"No," Blackheart replied, his tone low and deep, his presence imposing.
"No?" Everyone's hearts skipped a beat again. Although they wanted to ask more, fear trembled in their hearts as they met Blackheart's piercing gaze. They remembered what happened to Madison and Archie, and how many of them had been making a fuss earlier. Not wanting to be thrown overboard, they nervously said, "Okay Lord Blackheart, if there is nothing else, we will take our leave."
"Hmm," Blackheart nodded slightly, his focus solely on Cameron.
"Lord Blackheart, goodbye!" With that, the crowd dispersed.
Dakota lingered, walking with a hesitant pace. Blackheart frowned. "Why are you not leaving yet, miss?"
Dakota's heart trembled. "Lord Blackheart, I…"
Cameron chuckled. "She is my friend."
Blackheart's eyes flickered. His previously cold demeanor shifted instantly. "I see. So she's your friend."
Dakota's eyes trembled violently. What exactly was Cameron's identity?
Cameron winked at Blackheart. "Lord Blackheart, we're all friends here. You don't need to continue acting with me." He didn't want Dakota to be alienated by awe before confirming her feelings for him.
Blackheart caught on immediately. "Haha, you reminded me." He let out a laugh.
Dakota was stupefied. "Huh?" What on earth was going on?
Seeing her confusion, Blackheart explained with a smile, "Actually, I was acting with Mr. Morgan just now."
"Acting?" Dakota didn't understand.
"That's right," Blackheart said.
"So you are not boss and employee?" Dakota asked.
"No," Blackheart shook his head.
Dakota felt inexplicably relieved, but doubts quickly followed. "Then, what is your relationship?"
"Actually, Mr. Morgan is my savior," Blackheart replied.
"Savior?" Dakota looked surprised.
"Yes," Blackheart said. "A few years ago, I suffered from a serious illness. I visited famous doctors from all over the world, but they were unable to cure it. By chance, I met Mr. Morgan. With his medical skills, he performed acupuncture on me and cured my illness. I owed Mr. Morgan a favor. At that time, I promised him that I would do my best to help him whenever he needed it. So, when Mr. Morgan encountered trouble today and asked me for a favor, I acted accordingly, as per my promise."
"I see!" Dakota suddenly understood why Lord Blackheart called Cameron "sir"—it was to build momentum for Cameron in front of Archie and Madison!
Looking at Dakota's reaction, Cameron asked with a smile, "Ms. Jennings, are you a little disappointed?"
Dakota shook her head repeatedly. Surprise flashed in her almond-shaped eyes. "No way! You're amazing, Mr. Morgan. You're even proficient in medical skills!"
Cameron smiled and shook his head. "Haha, I'm just lucky. I once learned some basic medical skills from an expert in traditional medicine. It just so happened that I encountered Lord Blackheart and cured his disease."
"That's awesome anyway!" Dakota pursed her red lips. Still, she felt something was amiss and wanted to ask more.
Seeing this, Blackheart, fearing exposure, chimed in, "Ms. Jennings, I'm leaving Yrando in two days. I'd like to talk to Mr. Morgan for a bit in the lounge alone. Do you mind waiting for a few minutes?"
Dakota's eyes flickered. "Of course, Lord Blackheart. You should have your talk first. I'll wait outside the cruise ship."
"Sorry for the trouble, Ms. Jennings."
"It's no trouble."
"Please, Mr. Morgan."
"Okay, Lord Blackheart." Cameron complied respectfully.
"Hmm," Blackheart nodded and walked out of the banquet hall.
Their conversation had been overheard by a few curious people hiding outside. It turned out Cameron was not Lord Blackheart's boss; Lord Blackheart was simply repaying a past kindness!
Meanwhile, Dakota frowned slightly as she watched Cameron and Blackheart leave. Her suspicion was growing.
