Chapter 182

Laura's heart shattered beneath the weight of her emotions. She couldn't bear the thought of Cameron risking his life to save her.

"You foolish woman," Cameron laughed hoarsely. "What kind of defeatist talk is that? It's so unlike you."

Laura's heart trembled violently. She screamed, "I don't need your rescue! I don't need your meddling! If you die here, I will hate you for the rest of my life!"

"Ha," Cameron replied with forced lightness, "don't flatter yourself. I just had something to ask you. If you were dead, who would answer me?"

Laura stared at him, stunned. She saw the same stubborn, strong character he had shown seven years ago. "You idiot…" she murmured, her voice choked with emotion.

"Hah, how touching!" Jack clapped sarcastically. His eyes quickly darkened with malice. "Such sentiment is what I hate most! If you're all innocent, who should be responsible for my brother's death? Is it you, or this bitch?"

Jack roughly yanked Laura's hair.

"Gah!" Laura screamed in pain, her head forced back.

"Let her go, you bastard!" Cameron growled.

Jack sneered, noticing the red in Cameron's eyes. "Does it hurt to see her in pain? But what can you do in your current state?"

"I'll tell you," Jack declared, reaching for Laura's chest, "today I'm going to kill you. Then, I will violate your precious woman in front of you!"

Jack, seeing Cameron as incapacitated by his injuries, considered him no threat.

"Bang!"

Just as Jack's hand neared Laura, a thunderous sound filled the air. Cameron burst forward.

"What?!" Jack's eyes widened in disbelief. He was shocked to see the nearly crippled man move with such speed. Quickly regaining his composure, he aimed his gun at Cameron.

With lightning speed, Cameron grabbed Jack's wrist before he could fire.

Jack's eyes widened again in shock. He struggled, but Cameron's grip was unyielding.

"Crack!"

A crisp sound of breaking bone echoed as Jack screamed in agony. His wrist was twisted and broken. Cameron then punched Jack squarely in the chest.

Jack's chest caved in. His body flew back like a cannonball, crashing into the wall, which cracked on impact.

Gurgling sounds of blood came from Jack's mouth as he looked up at Cameron in disbelief. Propped against the wall, barely alive, he couldn't comprehend how Cameron, severely injured, had overpowered him so decisively.

Jack's rib cage and organs were shattered. He was alive only due to a remnant of vital energy. But it no longer mattered. He didn't want anyone to leave the building alive.
