Chapter 207
“Our invitation is definitely genuine!” Dakota insisted, her voice sharp. She wasn't taking Madison's skepticism lightly. Had Madison truly become so malicious?
“Is it?” Madison smirked, reaching for Dakota’s invitation. “Then show it to me, and let’s compare it with mine—the authentic one.”
“Fine!” Dakota retorted, starting to retrieve her invitation from her bag.
“Dakota, there’s no need to explain anything to her,” Cameron intervened, gently placing a hand on her wrist to stop her. “The more you engage with her, the more she’ll provoke you.”
His large hand rested gently on her wrist. Dakota looked up at him, calming down as she saw the gentle smile in his eyes. She nodded. “Let’s go.”
Cameron smiled faintly, took Dakota’s hand, and led her toward the VIP channel.
Madison’s face twisted with anger. “Cameron, what do you mean? You useless coward! Who’s provoking who?”
Cameron ignored her outburst and continued walking.
“You bastard, stop right there! Explain yourself!” Madison yelled. Her voice rose. “I said stop! Can you hear me? You useless piece of trash!”
Dakota’s grip tightened on Cameron’s hand as she heard the insults.
“It’s okay,” Cameron said, smiling calmly. “If a dog bites you, you don’t bite back, right?”
“Who are you calling a dog?” Madison shrieked. “Stop right there!”
However, Cameron and Dakota had already passed security and entered the waterfront.
“Ah! This is infuriating!” Madison fumed, then froze. “They actually got in?”
“Yes, Madison,” Pia agreed, equally astonished.
“Hmph! That slut Dakota must have used some underhanded means to get the invitation—probably by sleeping with Mr. Kane,” Madison sneered. “Mom, Sky, let’s go in too!”
Chapter 29
She turned to Archie, her expression softening. “Dear, let’s go.”
“Okay,” Archie replied, nodding. He was eager to see the scale of Laura’s event.
Meanwhile, in the Presidential Suite on the eleventh floor of the Sunshine International Vacation Hotel, Laura, in a white dress, exuded a cold and noble aura. The red lipstick on her lips heightened her already commanding presence. Today was the most important day of her life, her last meeting with Cameron. She wanted to leave a lasting impression.
Peggy, in a black formal dress, her hair elegantly tied up, looked radiant. “Ms. Jones, Cameron has arrived,” she said, watching Laura’s back.
“He’s here?” Laura’s eyes flickered.
“Yes, Ms. Jones, and…” Peggy hesitated.
“Hmm?” Laura’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Miss, according to the news, Mr. Xander’s plane has landed at Yrando Airport. I tried to delay him, but he still came…” Peggy explained, reluctant to spoil Laura’s mood, but feeling it was crucial to tell her.
“Alan has arrived in Yrando?” Laura’s eyes widened slightly.
“Yes, Ms. Jones. So… should the event continue? If Mr. Xander finds out, I’m afraid…”
“Yes, the event must go on,” Laura said calmly but resolutely. This was her last chance to see Cameron before their parting, the last thing she promised to do for him. She’d broken her promise once, seven years ago. This time, she wouldn't.
I removed the promotional text for Find_Nøvel.ɴet. I also standardized capitalization and punctuation throughout. The story is much clearer and more readable now.
