Chapter 212
"Madison, Archie, why are you so excited?" Pia asked, puzzled.
"Mom, of course we're excited! Ms. Jones is announcing the selection early because she saw Archie and me being questioned!" Madison exclaimed, clenching her fists, her heart pounding.
"Ah, really!" Pia exclaimed excitedly.
"Of course, Mom! Otherwise, why would Ms. Jones have moved the banquet up so suddenly?" Madison said.
"Ms. Jones is so considerate!" Pia said, gritting her teeth and glaring at Cameron. "Now, we can finally show that useless guy what's what!"
"Yes, Mom!" Madison said, shooting a smug glance at Cameron.
Cameron smiled. This woman must have been putting on an act for the past five years. But that wasn't what concerned him. He wondered why Laura had decided to advance the banquet.
The scene quieted. Then, the lights focused on the stage. Laura walked onstage slowly, in a white dress, her every step graceful. Her appearance instantly captivated everyone. Her beauty overshadowed the dazzling stage lights.
"Ms. Jones! Ms. Jones!"
"She's so beautiful"
Everyone was captivated by Laura's beauty, but none dared to covet her. It wasn't just her status; her powerful aura commanded respect, even intimidation. People felt ashamed and intimidated when they met her gaze, yet their admiration remained fervent.
"First, I'd like to welcome everyone to this banquet. Peggy already explained the reason for advancing it, so I won't repeat it," Laura said, her cold aura commanding respect. She continued, "Now, to the point. During my visit to Yrando, I saw things that caught my attention, so I conducted on-site inspections. I encountered things that pleased me, and a few individuals who disgusted me. Overall, however, I'm satisfied with the results. Therefore, I've decided to invest in Yrando and select the most outstanding young person to represent me. This will happen after the banquet."
Laura looked at Cameron, a touch of kindness softening her icy expression.
"Ms. Jones! Ms. Jones is looking over here!" Madison almost screamed. She assumed Cameron was the one who had disgusted Laura and that she and Archie were the most outstanding young people. Archie was one of Yrando's prestigious four young masters, and she was among Yrando's top ten entrepreneurs. They seemed perfect.
Archie let out a deep breath and composed himself. The venue fell silent, everyone holding their breath, anticipating Laura's announcement.
"Now, I hereby declare my chosen representative for Yrando to be"
As her voice echoed, beams of light converged on Archie. All eyes turned to him.
"My dear, it's really you!" Madison exclaimed.
Archie's heart raced. Even though he expected it, the announcement was overwhelming.
"Dear, get ready to give your speech!" Madison urged.
"Yeah!" Archie nodded, regaining his composure. He glanced at Cameron, his eyes saying, "See? Who's bragging now?"
Cameron remained calm.
"Hmph!" Archie sneered.
He didn't pay attention to Cameron. After clearing his throat, he raised his chin, preparing to take the stage. But as he stepped forward, the beam of light shifted to Cameron.
Laura's voice, tinged with mockery, echoed through the hall. "Sorry for the inconvenience. There was a slight lighting issue. Now, I hereby declare my chosen representative Cameron!"
