Chapter 23
“Rest assured,” Archie said, his eyes gloomy. “That brat made a fool of us in public. I definitely won’t let him off! But, not now.”
Madison looked confused. “Why, dear?”
“Because Lord Blackheart leaves Yrando in two days,” Archie explained. “It’s too risky to deal with Cameron now.”
Madison clenched her teeth, her eyes blazing with hatred. “Two more days? He doesn’t deserve two days’ grace! I wish he would die!”
Archie’s eyes hardened. “Heh, let him be smug for two more days. Then, I’ll show him what I’m capable of. That brat dared make a fool of me in front of so many friends and bigwigs. He won’t die in peace!”
Madison looked at him affectionately. “Dear, I’ll leave it to you then. By the way, what about our wedding?”
After considering Cameron, Madison returned to the subject of her wedding. Archie’s eyes flickered. He didn't care about the wedding, but to appease Madison, he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll find an opportunity to hold a bigger wedding later. But it will be a while.”
He continued, “I just received a call from my father. Ms. Jones from the Jones family in Leving will arrive in Yrando in five days. He asked me to greet her at the airport.”
Madison was shocked. “Ms. Jones from Leving? She’s coming to Yrando?”
“Yes,” Archie replied.
Madison’s heart pounded. First Lord Blackheart, then Laura—two important figures visiting Yrando. Something felt amiss. She remembered a love letter from Laura in Cameron’s wooden box. It had made a strong impression on her.
Could it be? Impossible! Cameron must have forged it! The idea of the eldest daughter of the Leving Jones family writing to such a loser was absurd. He also had letters from foreign princesses—a preposterous claim, considering he’d likely never left the country. Laura must be here for another reason.
Archie noticed Madison’s distracted state. “What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing… Just why Ms. Jones is coming to Yrando,” Madison replied, dismissing her own suspicions as ludicrous. If Cameron were truly capable, why had he relied on her for five years?
Archie shook his head. “I don’t know. Ms. Jones wouldn’t reveal her agenda. But no matter her purpose, we must give her a proper welcome at the airport. Other families will be there; we can’t be outdone. We must show Ms. Jones the Price family’s sincerity.”
“Okay, dear. I’ll go with you,” Madison said, eager for the opportunity to expand her social circle.
“Okay,” Archie said. “You, your mother, and Skyler should go get changed. I’ll call Mr. Kane to schedule the contract signing for the city’s construction project.”
Archie felt confident. With his father’s connection to Bobby, he believed the collaboration with Darth Holdings was certain. He called Bobby, but Bobby curtly said he was in a meeting before hanging up. Archie’s heart sank.
