“It’s weird. Hasn’t Dakota arrived home yet?” Cameron frowned, checking his phone. Dakota usually texted him when she got home safely, but almost an hour had passed without a word.

Worried, he called her, but she didn’t answer. He grew increasingly anxious and called Lord Blackheart.

“Blackheart, help me track Dakota’s phone,” Cameron said urgently.

“Sir, Ms. Jennings’ phone is moving toward the old city area.”

“The old city area?” Cameron frowned. “Give me real-time tracking. I’ll rush there now!”

“Yes, sir.”

The old city area contained an old alley slated for demolition. Nearly 90% of the residents had already moved out. In the deepest part of the alley, Madison sat on a shabby wooden chair on the second floor of a derelict house. Two burly men in black vests stood behind her. An unconscious Dakota was tied to a pillar; her bag lay discarded nearby.

“You two, wake that bitch up,” Madison ordered. The men, mafia members she’d hired after selling her remaining valuables, readily obeyed. They took no job too dangerous or illegal.

“Yes, Ms. Parker.”

One filled a bucket of water and threw it on Dakota’s face. The cold water jolted her awake.

“M-Madison!” Dakota gasped, her eyes widening in surprise at the familiar figure.

“Dakota, I guess you didn’t expect to see me so soon, did you?” Madison smirked cruelly.

“What do you want?” Dakota shivered, remembering the attack and kidnapping.

“What do I want? My dear best friend… I want you to know what it feels like to be ruined! You bitch!” Madison gritted her teeth, her resentment palpable.

“Let go of me!” Dakota struggled against the ropes binding her.

“Let you go? After abducting you? Do you think I'm that stupid?” Madison’s tone was chilling.

Dakota’s face paled with fear. “Madison, what you’re doing is illegal!”

“Illegal? Haha! Dakota, do you think I care?” Madison sneered, her expression growing more vicious. “You took everything from me! I’ll make you experience the same thing!”

“Madison, please calm down. Let’s talk,” Dakota pleaded, trying to suppress her fear.

“Talk? You teamed up with my ex-husband to frame me! You took everything! Talk? Okay! We can talk… after I destroy your disgusting face!” Madison lost control, grabbing a fruit knife from the table and advancing on Dakota.
