Chapter 269

"Mr. Morgan, I see the Ziminers are up to something," Harrison remarked at the villa's entrance.

"I know," Cameron replied.

"Then why give them three days?" Harrison asked, puzzled.

"Because right now, the Zimmer family is the fastest and only lead to finding clues about my mother's death," Cameron said resolutely. Past investigations, even those conducted by Lord Blackheart, had yielded nothing. This lead, however, was too valuable to relinquish.

"I understand, Mr. Morgan," Harrison nodded.

"Colonel Larson, I appreciate you making the trip today," Cameron said.

"Mr. Morgan, you're too kind. Contact me directly if you need anything else," Harrison replied, feeling honored. Only then did he realize Cameron possessed the Dragon Token—a symbol of Andura's highest military authority, capable of mobilizing forces across the entire region. Lord Blackheart was merely a subordinate. This, of course, was confidential.

"Alright, Colonel Larson. I'll take my leave," Cameron smiled. Harrison departed.

After Harrison left, Cameron looked to the sky, envisioning his mother's gentle face. "Mom!" he cried, clenching his fists. "I won't let anyone take what belongs to you. I will reclaim everything the Morgan family owes you. The day of reckoning is not far away!"

He descended the steps. Outside, Tara waited anxiously. The guests had left, security was complete, the military had withdrawn, yet Cameron remained. She feared he was in trouble.

"This is frustrating," she paced. She wanted to help but knew interference would only worsen the situation. She contacted Lena, but her arrival was still two hours away—possibly too late.

"Dang it! If I don't go in, Cameron might be beaten to death!" She was about to enter when she saw him descending the steps.

"Cameron?" she was stunned.

"Dr. Smith, sorry to keep you waiting," he said, smiling.

"Youare you okay?" she asked incredulously, noting his lack of injury.

"What could possibly happen to me?" he smiled. "Let's go."

"Wait!"

"What's wrong, Dr. Smith?" he asked, slightly surprised.

"Weren't you going to congratulate Mr. Zimmer Senior on his birthday?"

"Yeah," he nodded.

"So, were you causing trouble in there?" Tara asked, her throat dry.

"Yeah," he nodded again.

Tara gasped. "So, you also arranged the military unit that arrived earlier?"

"Exactly," he admitted.

Tara was speechless, completely dumbfounded.
