Chapter 288
"Blackheart, tell our men to stay put. You follow me to the villa," Cameron said indifferently.
"Yes, sir!" Lord Blackheart replied.
The convoy slowly stopped at the villa's entrance. Cameron stepped out of the Maybach. Lord Blackheart followed, holding an umbrella over them. They walked toward the main entrance.
The Zimmers had been waiting. A hint of menace flickered across their faces as they watched Cameron and Blackheart approach.
"You punk, you're finally here," Max said slowly, his deep eyes glinting with murderous intent.
"It seems you've been looking forward to my arrival," Cameron replied calmly.
Max smiled slyly. "Certainly."
"Three days are up. Hand over the person to me. Where is he?" Cameron asked.
Max feigned ignorance. "Who are you talking about?"
"The mysterious man who sold you my mother's house."
"Did I ever say that?"
Max smiled, then looked at the Zimmers behind him. "Did any of you hear me say that?"
"No, Mr. Zimmer Senior. We never did," they chorused.
"That punk's making it up!"
They all looked at each other, echoing Max's denial.
"Look, they can all prove I didn't say anything. What should we do now?" Max asked, his ridicule unconcealed.
"What a pity. You didn't appreciate the chance I gave you," Cameron said, his tone deepening.
Max sneered. "Chance? Who do you think you are to give us a chance? By the way, where's Colonel Larson? Why didn't he come with you?" He glanced pointedly at the empty space beyond the parked black cars, noting the absence of military armored vehicles.
"I didn't need him this time," Cameron said calmly.
Max sneered. "Didn't need him? You didn't invite him, did you? Colonel Larson only helped you once, for Ms. Jones. Do you think I'm unaware of this? Let me see what tricks you're up to. This big convoy and hired umbrella-holder must have cost a fortune. But you should act the part. If you spent that much, why not hire some actors to support your charade? Are you broke?"
The Zimmers burst into sarcastic laughter.
Cameron remained impassive, his gaze fixed on the Zimmers as if they were already dead.
Lord Blackheart, enraged by Cameron's perceived humiliation, shouted, "How dare you insult sir! You're seeking death!"
The Zimmers were stunned, then their laughter escalated.
"Hahaha! I'm dying laughing!"
"Punk, where did you find such a good actor? Think you're filming a movie? Beg for mercy, and we'll let you go. What do you say?"
Another wave of laughter erupted.
