Pietro stared at Kaze, bewildered. "There's a man named Kaze Lee, and I'm trying to teach him a lesson," he said.
A loud thud echoed from the other end of the phone. Pietro asked, "Boss, are you alright?"
A furious roar erupted from the receiver, assaulting Pietro's ears. "Alright? I'm not fucking alright! Are you trying to fuck with me?! I'm warning you, whatever that man tells you to do, you fucking do it, understand? He's a god from now on!"
Pietro was stunned. He'd never seen Giovani this terrified in all his years working for him. Instinctively, he asked, "Boss, are you mistaken? He's just some nobody who married into the Quint family."
"Pietro, are you trying to get yourself killed? You and I are like flies to him. One swat and we're dead! Do you understand?!"
"Boss, I…" Pietro stammered, growing nervous.
"Last warning. That man is someone I can't even touch. You better take care of yourself!"
The call ended abruptly. Pietro was stunned. Regaining his composure, he realized he was drenched in sweat and his legs were shaking.
Deborah noticed his distress. Approaching him, she asked, "Pietro, are you okay? Teach the two of them a lesson!"
"Teach? I'll teach your ass!" Pietro shouted, slapping Deborah across the face.
Slap!
The sudden violence shocked everyone. The forceful blow sent Deborah reeling, her cheek swelling instantly. She covered her face, disbelief etched on her features. Tears welled in her eyes as she cried, "Pietro, I'm here to buy a car, why did you hit me? Hit them!"
"I'm hitting you because you're a bitch! If it weren't for Vincent Hanser, I would have slapped you to death. Get out of my face!"
Deborah, speechless, dared not argue. She glared at Darcy and Kaze before storming out, muttering, "You fucking retard, just you wait!" She blamed Kaze for the slap.
Darcy instinctively tugged Kaze's sleeve, whispering, "Kaze, let's go…"
Before Kaze could respond, Pietro strode toward them. Darcy was terrified. To her astonishment, Pietro bowed deeply, saying in a trembling voice, "Mr. Lee, Ms. Quint, I am so sorry for my behavior. Please forgive me…"
What happened? Darcy was shocked. Pietro was a completely different person after the call.
"So are you going to pay us back?" Kaze asked, unsurprised by the change. Draco must have intervened.
Pietro nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes! Yes, of course. I'll do it immediately!"
Later, Darcy and Kaze left Loco Town with a bank check. Darcy still couldn't comprehend the events. She kept glancing at Kaze, wondering if he'd done something to Pietro.
Meanwhile, in a city mansion, the notorious Giovani Beneli knelt before a tall man in a suit.
Draco said coldly, "Giovani, well done. If anything happens to my boss, you'll be in prison for life."
"Thank you for your mercy, Chief Commander," Giovani breathed a sigh of relief, bowing deeply. "I had no idea the God of War himself was in Lilyrose and had a conflict with my men. May I host a feast for the God of War to apologize?"
"I'll deliver the message."
"Thank you, Chief Commander!"
Lily Court was an old district in Lilyrose City, home to Darcy and her parents' modest house. Darkness had fallen when Darcy and Kaze returned. Agnes and Hector rushed out to greet them.
"Darcy, are you alright? Did that gangster hurt you?"
"Mom, I'm fine. Thanks to Kaze, we got the debt back." Darcy looked at Kaze.
"What? What did he do? You really believed this retard could perform miracles?" Agnes looked at Kaze contemptuously. "It was Henry who helped us, or you'd never have gotten your money back."
Henry? Darcy was surprised. Kaze narrowed his eyes; he'd heard the name before.
"Darcy, you must thank Henry. I called him, and he agreed to help. He even wants to take us to dinner. You can't refuse."
Darcy wanted to refuse. "Mom, can we skip it? Kaze just recovered, shouldn't we celebrate?"
Agnes rolled her eyes. "What's to celebrate about this retard's recovery? Henry helped us, you're going to dinner to thank him!"
Hector agreed. "Your mother's right. You're going tonight."
Darcy looked at Kaze, concerned. "What about Kaze if we're going to dinner?"
"Stop thinking about him!" Agnes grabbed Darcy's hand and ushered her upstairs. "Go get dressed. Dress nicely."
Darcy kept looking back, but her mother pushed her upstairs. Kaze frowned.
"Kaze, what's with that look? Get out of our house. You're not welcome," Hector bellowed.
A Land Rover pulled up. Miru Scarlet, Darcy's friend, emerged.
"Hector, Agnes, where's Darcy? Henry sent me to pick you up." She saw Kaze and was shocked. "Kaze? What are you doing out of the hospital?"
Agnes explained what happened. Miru looked at Kaze with disgust. Three years ago, he'd disappeared on his wedding night, making Darcy a laughingstock. He'd returned a changed man and only caused trouble for the Quint family. She had no respect for Darcy's husband.
"Kaze, now that you've recovered, why are you still here? If you're a man, stay away from her and let her pursue her happiness. Henry is next in line to inherit his family's business. His father controls the construction industry. Henry can give Darcy a good life. What can you give her besides insults and suffering?"
Agnes and Hector nodded.
Kaze said calmly, "Miru, what I can give Darcy is beyond your comprehension."
The passage has been cleaned up for grammar, punctuation, and excessive use of profanity (reduced but not entirely removed to maintain the character's voice). The excessive use of capitalization has also been addressed. The final line is left as it is to maintain a sense of mystery.
