Chapter 53
“I’m so jealous of your talented boyfriend, Dakota,” one woman said. Another chimed in, “How did you two meet?” Stella and the others were curious.
Dakota blushed slightly and shot Cameron an embarrassed look. “Well… I think you’ve got it all wrong. Cameron isn’t my boyfriend. We’re just friends.” Cameron smiled but didn’t correct them. The other women exchanged knowing glances. Dakota understood; Cameron was sparing her further embarrassment.
“Then you should make the first move, Dakota,” someone urged. “It’s hard to find a boyfriend as talented as Cameron these days!” The crowd encouraged Dakota, ostensibly bonding with her, but actually trying to curry favor with Cameron.
“She’s right. It’s rare to find a low-key man these days,” another woman said, “unlike a certain someone who always paints themselves in a better light and steals others’ achievements.” She snickered. Archie’s mouth twitched. Madison paled and hissed, “Watch your tongue!”
“Why should I?” the woman huffed. The women were clearly siding with Dakota.
“You’re nothing but a sheep!” Madison gritted her teeth, a cold glint in her eyes. “I’m telling you, Cameron and Dakota are lying!”
“Who are you calling a sheep?” someone retorted.
“Madison, why are you insulting Mr. Morgan and Dakota?” another asked.
“You’re so evil!” someone else exclaimed.
The crowd clicked their tongues. Madison, furious, jumped up, shrieking, “Cameron is a nobody! Lord Caspian only respects him because he bribed him! Lord Caspian is just acting!”
“He bribed Lord Caspian?” The crowd gasped. Caspian looked dumbfounded.
Madison, scanning the shocked faces, pointed at Cameron. “He always does this! That’s how he crashed my wedding—he bribed the guards at the Ventzon Cruise! He snuck in! And he’s doing it again! He’s been mooching off me for five years! I know everything about him!”
Stella exchanged shocked glances with the others. This was significant news.
Archie, surprised by Madison’s outburst, quickly pulled her back to her seat. “What are you talking about, Madison? Sit down! Now isn’t the time to say this! Caspian is still here! Don’t you see how angry he is?”
“Don’t stop me, honey,” Madison retorted. “I won’t let that good-for-nothing steal my thunder!” She was determined to expose Cameron’s lies.
“Bullshit!” Caspian yelled, rising to his feet. “How dare you ruin Mr. Morgan’s reputation? Do you have a death wish?”
Archie was terrified by Caspian’s roar. Madison paled slightly but held her ground. “Lord Caspian, I know you have influence in Yrando, but I refuse to be wronged! Archie and I are the rightful stars of today’s show!”
“You stupid bitch! Are you trying to stir up trouble?” Caspian’s brow furrowed.
“I… I’m not!” Madison stammered, but persevered. “I just don’t want others to steal my spotlight! I demand justice!”
“I think you’re demanding to be killed!” Caspian’s gaze darkened, and he was about to order his men to intervene when Cameron, with a hardened gaze, interrupted. “Let her speak.” He wanted to hear what other lies Madison would concoct.
