Chapter 58

Did Dakota like the gift? Cameron's heart skipped a beat, but he quickly recovered. He realized Dakota was likely sparing Timothy's feelings.

"Haha. I'm glad you like it," Cameron laughed, playing along.

Dakota pursed her cherry-red lips, her eyes shimmering slightly.

"Haha. I'm glad you like it, Ms. Jennings!" Timothy nearly clapped his hands with glee.

If Dakota liked the gift, Cameron reasoned, it meant he'd chosen well.

"Perez, quickly! Cover the sculpture again. This is a gift for Mr. Morgan and Ms. Jennings. It mustn't get dirty!" Timothy directed his men, his confidence restored.

"Yes!" Perez promptly covered the sculpture.

"Mr. Morgan, Ms. Jennings, let us continue the banquet," Timothy said happily.

"Of course, Mr. Dashner," Dakota murmured softly.

Cameron gave Timothy a look, which the latter mistook for a compliment, swelling his pride. "Come, Perez. Pour some wine for Mr. Morgan and Ms. Jennings!"

"Right away!" Perez poured two glasses of red wine.

"A toast to you, Mr. Morgan, Ms. Jennings!" Timothy stood, raising his glass.

"A toast to you!" Dakota stood as well.

Cameron's expression was unreadable. Timothy, oblivious, finished his wine in one gulp.

When Stella and the others saw Timothy toasting Cameron and Dakota, they became convinced Cameron was exceptional. They glared at Madison.

That bitch! They thought. She almost fooled us with her lies! Luckily, Timothy arrived to expose her.

Madison had previously claimed Cameron had sponged off her for five years. They now believed she had pursued him unsuccessfully, explaining her hatred and attempts to ruin his reputation.

Why else would Cameron ignore her earlier outburst? Why would an exceptional man like him mooch off of Madison? They considered her nothing more than a gold digger who had seduced Archie with her looks.

Archie paled in comparison to Cameron, who had Timothy Dashner eating out of his hand—and even receiving a gift from him!

Under her friends' scrutiny, embarrassment washed over Madison. Her plan to expose Cameron had backfired spectacularly.

Archie, beside her, felt equally humiliated. This was the most embarrassing moment of his life. Not only had he been publicly called out, but he'd been made a fool of. He couldn't understand Cameron's connection with Timothy; they seemed to know each other very well.

Madison shared his confusion. During their five-year marriage, Cameron had never left the house, spending his days cooking and cleaning.

How could such a seemingly ordinary man reduce the formidable Timothy to a lapdog? Could he be hiding his true identity?
