Chapter 59
Madison took a deep breath at the thought, and a wave of regret washed over her. No, impossible. Cameron could never be that exceptional, she kept reassuring herself. She must have missed something.
After an excruciatingly long wait, the banquet finally ended. Timothy's face was flushed bright red from drinking. He stumbled from his chair and loudly exclaimed, “Today, I’m glad I could invite Mr. Morgan and Ms. Jennings to the banquet! I hope you two will live a lifetime of happiness together! A toast to you!” He downed his entire glass in one gulp. It was clear he had gone to great lengths to make amends to Cameron.
“Wow, Mr. Dashner!” The crowd cheered.
Dakota offered a small toast in return.
Archie and Madison were the first to leave after the banquet, eager to escape the tense atmosphere.
“Are you satisfied with the banquet, Mr. Morgan, Ms. Jennings?” Timothy asked, standing up.
“Yes. Thank you for the banquet, Mr. Dashner,” Dakota replied, pursing her lips.
“You’re most welcome, Ms. Jennings.” Timothy laughed and turned to Cameron, expecting praise. However, he was met with a cold glare, a murderous intent even.
Timothy froze, swallowing hard. Had he misunderstood the situation again? Under Cameron’s dangerous glare, he decided against asking questions. Instead, he hastily excused himself: “Well…sorry, Mr. Morgan, and Ms. Jennings. I had a little too much alcohol and urgently need to use the toilet. Please excuse me!” He practically ran from the room.
He bumped into Bobby, who was there for a business meeting.
“Hello, Mr. Kane!” Timothy half-shouted.
“Mr. Dashner!” Bobby was surprised. “What a coincidence. Are you here for dinner?”
Bobby and Timothy had been business friends for some time.
“Haha. Indeed.” Timothy chuckled, and they began to chat.
Bobby glanced through the doorway and saw Cameron and Dakota. His heart skipped a beat, and he immediately greeted them: “Hello, Mr. Morgan, Ms. Jennings!”
“Hello, Mr. Kane,” Dakota greeted warmly. She hadn’t expected to see him.
“Hello, Mr. Kane,” Cameron smiled.
“Oh? You know each other? Well, go ahead and chat. I really need to use the toilet!” Timothy hastily left.
Bobby stared at Timothy’s retreating figure in shock. What was with Timothy’s odd behavior?
Archie and Madison, watching from a distance, immediately understood. Timothy’s kind treatment of Cameron and Dakota was because of Bobby! It wasn’t Cameron’s exceptional qualities; it was Dakota’s relationship with Bobby. They could see how happy Bobby was to see Dakota.
They remembered Dakota’s sudden appearance and her snatching of the business project from them. Besides Cameron’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering, Dakota must have done something too! That woman must have been having an affair with Bobby!
