Chapter 75

Dakota blinked; her cheeks were rosy. If asked to repeat herself, she wouldn't be able to.

Cameron was stunned. He clearly hadn't expected Dakota to say that, but deep down, he was deeply moved.

“It’s alright, I’m strong. I can sleep on the floor,” Cameron said, patting his chest.

Dakota gently bit her lip. “I asked for your help, yet I let you sleep on the floor. It’s embarrassing. Besides, you can use a blanket on the bed; it’ll be like we’re sleeping separately.”

She believed in Cameron’s character. Cameron hesitated, understanding her consideration. Not wanting to refuse her kindness, he smiled. “Then I will obey your command.” Sleeping with separate blankets would ensure no physical contact.

“Okay,” Dakota nodded.

Cameron climbed onto the bed and lay next to Dakota, covering himself with a blanket. Dakota’s eyes twitched slightly, and her heartbeat quickened.

Phew.

Cameron also took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Silence stretched between them as they both adjusted.

After a while, Dakota broke the silence. “Cameron, thank you for helping me today. Without you, Aunt Florence and her family would have given us a hard time.”

Cameron’s eyes flickered. “Dakota, can you tell me the exact problems the Jennings family is facing?”

“Sure,” Dakota said. “It all started over two months ago. My grandfather is addicted to gambling. He borrowed a huge debt from loan sharks and had to use half the company’s assets to repay it. This resulted in the loss of many loyal customers and a drop in production value. Consequently, my grandfather fell seriously ill and was hospitalized.”

She continued, “To save the Jennings family, my father took a risk two months ago and upgraded the company, hoping to turn losses into profits. It failed. To cover the losses, he sold off all sellable assets, but it wasn’t enough. Originally, we could have stayed out of it, but my father cares too much about the family. He doesn’t want my grandfather to wake up and find the Jennings family ruined, so…”

“So that’s the story,” Cameron murmured.

“Cameron, thank you. I’m grateful! Without you, I wouldn’t have convinced Mr. Kane to partner with the Jennings family. There would be no hope,” Dakota said, truly appreciating his help in securing the important contract.

“Why so polite?” Cameron smiled, waving his hand. “By the way, does the Jennings family still need money? Is two hundred million dollars enough?”

“It’s enough,” Dakota nodded firmly. With that money and upcoming projects, she believed the family would get through this.

“Good. If it’s not enough, let me know,” Cameron smiled.

“Huh?” Dakota was stunned.

“What’s wrong?” Cameron asked, puzzled.

“The two hundred million dollars Mr. Kane transferred… it’s not from the project funds? It’s your money?” Dakota asked, realizing she’d assumed it was project funding.

“Haha, yes,” Cameron replied.

“Cameron, are you really that rich?” Dakota asked in astonishment.

“I’m not that rich. I just made quite a bit of money from previous business ventures,” Cameron said casually.

“Wow!” Dakota gasped, looking at him with a strange expression.

“Haha, don’t look at me like that. It’s embarrassing,” Cameron laughed.

Dakota looked at his smile, but something else troubled her. Thinking about the future, she asked, “Cameron, in the future… are you going to leave Yrando?”
