Chapter 83
As the crowd watched, Laura walked slowly toward the Price family.
"Ms. Jones is here! She's really coming toward us!" Archie trembled with excitement. Madison also held her breath. Finally!
Laura stopped at the security gate, looking at the empty space where Cameron had once stood. Her gaze flickered. Had he left?
"Ms. Jones, hello! Welcome to Yrando!" Archie's excited voice caught Laura's attention. His face was flushed.
Laura turned to Archie. The moment their eyes met, Archie felt as if his soul had left his body. It was intensely cold—a coldness that went beyond arrogance or worldly success; a coldness capable of shattering a person's soul. Under her icy gaze, it felt as if all the world's filth would freeze and be destroyed, leaving no room for desire.
"Hi," Laura nodded slightly, her tone devoid of emotion. It was as if the nod itself was the ultimate compliment.
Archie couldn't compose himself. Ms. Jones had actually greeted him!
"Ms. Jones, hello. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Archie, a member of the Price family in Yrando. If you encounter any troubles here, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will do my utmost to assist!" His sincerity was genuine; he wished she could sense it.
However, Laura ignored him. Her secretary, Peggy, snorted. "Why would you think Ms. Jones needs your help? She can handle herself." Her tone was merciless.
Archie panicked. "Ms. Lee, I—I just thought, as one of Yrando's most prominent families, we should extend our hospitality."
Madison interjected, "Yes, Ms. Lee. My boyfriend didn't mean it that way. He just wants Ms. Jones to have a good time while she's in Yrando."
Peggy's tone hardened. "A good time? Are you implying someone is trying to cause her trouble?"
"I didn't mean it that way, Ms. Lee," Madison explained.
"Madison, shut up!" Archie was drenched in sweat. He wished he could slap her. This woman should keep quiet if she couldn't speak properly! If she angered Ms. Jones, the Price family could be ruined!
Madison fell silent. The coldness in Peggy's eyes softened slightly. She turned to Laura. "Ms. Jones, it's sunny. You should get back in the car."
"Wait," Laura interrupted, her gaze shifting to Madison. "Are you Madison? The founder of Marreon Corp?"
"Yes, Ms. Jones!" Madison nodded excitedly. Ms. Jones knew her and her company! She must have researched Yrando's major corporations beforehand.
"Madison, good. I've noticed you," Laura said. She then looked at Peggy. "Peggy, let's go."
"Yes, Ms. Jones," Peggy replied, though puzzled. Why would Laura be interested in such an ordinary woman?
