Chapter 85
Cameron furrowed his brow. He couldn't remember provoking anyone.
"Hey, kid, are you Cameron?" the bald man leading the group sneered.
"Who are you?" Cameron asked.
"Hehe, looks like it's him. Come on, brothers, let's teach him a lesson!" the bald man shouted.
"Yes, boss!" Four men behind him grabbed iron rods and swung violently at Cameron's head.
"Watch out, Cameron!" Dakota paled.
Cameron remained expressionless, simply raising a hand.
"Ouch"
The four thugs were instantly on the ground, clutching their stomachs and groaning. Yellow bile spewed onto the floor.
"Ahhh!" The bald man swallowed hard, stunned.
"Tell me, who sent you?" Cameron asked, his voice chilling.
The bald man, seeing Cameron's expression, quickly confessed. "I I don't know. A young couple gave me twenty thousand dollars to teach you a lesson."
"A young couple?" Cameron frowned. Could it be Archie and Madison? But they weren't foolish enough to think a few thugs could handle him, were they? Something felt wrong.
Beep! Beep!
Police sirens wailed nearby. Two police cars arrived, and four officers emerged.
The chubby lead officer confronted Cameron. "We received a report of a fight. You guys, right?"
"Officer, I'm a victim. These thugs attacked me. The rods are evidence. I acted in self-defense," Cameron explained.
"Self-defense? Take him in!" The officer refused to listen and ordered Cameron's arrest.
As Cameron was being arrested, he realized he'd been set up. The thugs were merely pawns.
"Hey, kid, what are you looking at? You can explain later!" Sergeant Tommy shouted, handcuffing Cameron and shoving him into the police car.
Cameron didn't resist. He wanted to confirm Archie and Madison's involvement.
Dakota, anxious, ran to the officers. "Officers, you've got the wrong person! The thugs attacked us!"
"We'll investigate. Miss, leave before you end up like him," Sergeant Tommy said sternly.
"Dakota, don't worry. I'll be released soon. Just wait for my call," Cameron reassured her.
"Shut up!" Sergeant Tommy snorted. He'd offended Archie; release was unlikely, though he didn't say so. He gestured, "Take him away!"
The police car sped off. Laura, leaving the airport, witnessed the scene. Her calm demeanor vanished.
"Perez, follow that police car!" she urgently told her driver.
"Yes, Ms. Jones!" Perez accelerated the black Lincoln limousine.
