Chapter 95
The man's pupils constricted, a chill spreading through his body. He stared at Cameron, observing the latter's calm, ancient-well-like eyes. He knew Cameron was a top expert, but escape was impossible. Failure meant a fate worse than death.
Swish!
With a ruthless thought, the man lunged, thrusting his dagger toward Cameron's chest. Cameron dodged, countering with a roundhouse kick aimed at the man's throat.
"So fast!" the man thought, his face contorting. He had no time to evade, raising his right arm to block in desperation.
Bam!
A deafening sound echoed. Crack! The sound of breaking bones followed. The man's right arm instantly drooped, the pain eliciting cold sweat. His camouflaged face twisted in agony.
"Tell me! Who sent you?" Cameron's eyes, though still calm, swirled with coldness.
"Bastard!" the man growled in broken Andurish, trying to draw his pistol.
Cameron, anticipating his movement, flicked a silver needle, which shot out like lightning, embedding itself in the man's left arm. Instantly, the arm went numb, hanging lifelessly.
"What happened?" The man's face paled with shock.
Cameron didn't explain, advancing step by step. His voice, cold as the Grim Reaper's, cut through the air. "You have two more chances to answer. First, it was your arm. Next, your legs."
The man swallowed hard, cold sweat dripping down his forehead. What kind of terrifying being stood before him? Why was such a skilled person protecting Laura?
"Not telling?" Cameron raised an eyebrow, his expression hardening.
The man panted, his eyes darting toward the foot of the mountain, seemingly expecting something. Cameron noticed this and frowned. At that moment, a gray van sped from the foot of the mountain, screeching to a halt beside the black Lincoln.
Four men, dressed similarly to the sniper, jumped out, attempting to abduct Laura. The car doors were locked, but the men were prepared. One attached a remote-controlled bomb to the car door.
Boom!
The back door exploded open. A burly man reached in to grab Laura and Peggy. Cameron's face froze. He had accomplices!
While distracted, the man roundhouse kicked Cameron's waist.
"Get lost!" Cameron roared, unleashing a powerful kick that shattered the man's sternum. Blood gushed from his mouth; his body stiffened as he fell, his chest grotesquely caved in.
Cameron had no time to linger. He sprinted down the mountain.
"Ah!" Peggy screamed as she was dragged from the car and thrown to the ground. The burly man reached for Laura.
Cameron's gaze hardened, poised to attack.
Bang!
A gunshot echoed. Everyone stopped. Turning, they saw a green military pickup truck speeding toward them, driven by a young woman in a camouflage vest.
