Lennoxโs POV
She stood before me with folded arms, clearly unhappy that I was there. โWhy are you here?โ she asked, sounding irritated.
I shrugged, pushed back my emotions, and gave her a hard expression. โWhy canโt I be here? This is the training field, not your room.โ
Oliviaโs eyes narrowed, her glare sharp. โThen train,โ she snapped, turning away and resuming her stance. โDonโt just stand there gawking.โ
I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to ignore the tightness in my chest. โYour steps are sloppy,โ I said coldly.
She froze. Slowly, she turned to face me, her expression unreadable. โWhat?โ
โYour left leg drags on the pivot. Your formโs weaker than usual,โ I said, trying to sound calm, as if I werenโt suffocating on the events of the last few minutes. โIf youโre going to act like a warrior, then fight like one.โ
Her lips curled into a furious smirk. โOh, really?โ she asked, her voice dripping with anger. Before I could brace myself, she snatched a training knife from the weapons rack and threw it. Fast. Sharp. I caught itโbarely. The force behind it was no joke.
โYouโve got a mouth on you today,โ I said, swinging the blade, testing its weight.
Without a word, she attacked me. She didnโt hesitate. Her attacks came in a blur, and though I blocked the first few strikes, I wasnโt fully in the fight. I was distracted by herโthe fire in her eyes, the tension in her jaw, the grace of every furious hit. She spun, ducked low, and her blade sliced clean across my arm.
I hissed in pain, stepping back and looking down at the blood seeping through my sleeve. She smirked. โMaybe you should spend less time fucking and more time training,โ she sneered.
I clenched my jaw; her words hit harder than the blade. She wasnโt done.
โMy mistake. Maybe if you werenโt so busy with Anita, I wouldnโt be getting my ass handed to you. Even your brothers are better fighters, and theyโve never slacked the way you have. And youโre the eldest?โ
Those words. Those exact damn words. They sliced deeper than the wound on my arm. My vision blurred with rage, memories replaying in my head. Pain surged. Old pain. Deep wounds I thought were long buried were reopened. I snapped.
With a growl, I struck back, faster and harder than before. Our blades clashed. Sparks flew. She fought back with everything she had, but this time I didnโt hold back. My blade came down in a quick, controlled arcโand sliced across her arm. She stumbled back, clutching the cut.
The moment it happened, regret surged through me like ice water. โOliviaโโ I stepped forward.
โDonโt,โ she said, her voice low but tight with pain. Her eyes were wideโnot with fear, but with disbelief. And disappointment. The kind I hadnโt seen before. The kind I had feared more than anything.
What the hell have I done? Olivia dropped the knife, and without saying a word, she began walking away. Without thinking, I followed her.
โOliviaโฆ Iโm sorry,โ I said again, rushing after her, my chest tight with guilt. She didnโt stop walking. Her arm was bleeding profusely, and she covered it with her other hand.
โOlivia, wait. Pleaseโjust let me take care of your wound.โ
She paused, then turned her head slightly, her voice calm but annoyed. โTraining, Lennox. Injuries happen.โ
Her words sliced through me deeper than any blade. I took another step closer. โI donโt care if it was training or a real fight; youโre hurt. Let me help.โ
She finally turned to face me fully, her expression unreadable but her tone sharp. โCare for your own wound, Lennox. That oneโs bleeding worse than mine.โ
I shook my head, taking another step forward, stubborn. โI donโt care about mine.โ
โWell, you should do,โ she snapped, her eyes flaring. โYouโre bleeding.โ
โWhat the hell happened?โ A voice, furious and cold, echoed across the field. I froze. Levi.
He was standing a few feet away, his eyes blazing, his frown deepened, jaw tight. He took in Oliviaโs arm, the blood running down her skin, and then he looked at me like he could rip me apart.
โYou injured her?โ he growled, his voice thunderous. I opened my mouth, guilt flooding me, but I couldnโt even speak before he spoke.
โYou hurt her! Are you out of your damn mind, Lennox? You cut her?!โ
I staggered slightly at the force of his rage. โIt was a training fightโit got out of hand. I didnโt mean toโโ
โYou didnโt mean to?โ he snarled. โYouโre more experienced. Youโre supposed to know when to back out, and not injure her! What the fuck is wrong with you?โ
Olivia stepped between us, her arm still bleeding. โLevi, calm down. It was training. I provoked it.โ
Levi didnโt even look at her. His eyes stayed locked on me. โYou donโt get to hurt herโeven if itโs training. You donโt get to lose control. Not with her.โ
I clenched my jaw but said nothing. Then Leviโs gaze softened as he turned to Olivia, gently taking her wounded arm into his hands. โLet me take care of this,โ he said quietly, but with a firmness that left no room for argument.
Olivia frowned. โI can take care of myself.โ She refused.
Levi shook his head. โItโs not up for debate, Iโm doing it.โ
She looked at me for the first timeโreally lookedโbut there was nothing warm in her eyes. Then she nodded. โFine. You do it.โ
And just like that, I was dismissed. Levi turned with her, guiding her away from me like I was a threat. I didnโt try to stop them. I didnโt say another word. I just stood there, bleeding. Not just bleeding in my armโbut my heart was also bleeding.
