Chapter 244

Chad and Catlin were locked in a heated argument at Mount Spring. Catlin remained deeply worried about Olivia in the hospital; she was anxious to return as soon as possible. But right now, the Hart Groupโ€™s crisis could only be resolved through Stephanie, and they couldnโ€™t even get a meeting with her. Chad blamed everything on Catlin, making it impossible for her to leave for the hospital. Neither of them had slept, both preoccupied with how to secure a meeting with Stephanie the next day.

The phone vibrated with a persistent buzz. It was a call from the hospital caretaker.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œMrs. Hart, Miss Hartโ€™s medical teamโ€ฆ they all left!โ€

The caretakerโ€™s voice was filled with anxiety. Catlinโ€™s breath hitched. โ€œWhat?โ€ She instinctively glanced at Chad. He looked exhausted and irritable. Was thisโ€ฆ him? Her breathing grew uneven.

Before she could question Chad, the caretaker continued, โ€œMiss Hart is in severe pain. I went to get her some painkillers, but the professors who used to stay overnightโ€ฆ theyโ€™re all gone.โ€

Catlinโ€™s face turned ashen. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€ All gone? What did that mean? She had poured a fortune into this hospital, and this was how they repaid her?

The caretaker hesitated before adding, โ€œAnd the nurse station saidโ€ฆ you need to come in the morning to process Miss Hartโ€™s discharge.โ€

Discharge? No, the nurseโ€™s toneโ€”it was no different from being kicked out! โ€œThey want her discharged? What the hell is this supposed to mean?โ€ Catlinโ€™s vision darkened, her chest tightening with fury. The caretaker continued explaining the situation, but all Catlin could gather was that Oliviaโ€™s condition was deteriorating, and the hospitalโ€™s attitude had turned ice-cold. They wanted her out.

Catlin instructed sternly, โ€œStay with her. Iโ€™ll be there right away.โ€ She hung up. Then, she turned to Chad with a sharp glare. โ€œYou did this, didnโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Chadโ€™s face darkened, his tone laced with impatience. He clearly had no idea what she was referring to.

โ€œFor the sake of Stephanie, you abandoned Olivia, didnโ€™t you? Sheโ€™s still sick, yet you pulled her medical team and had her discharged? Are you trying to kill her?โ€ Catlinโ€™s voice trembled with fury. The more she spoke, the harsher her tone became.

Chad looked completely lost. โ€œWhat are you saying?โ€ His reactionโ€”he truly didnโ€™t know. Catlinโ€™s breath stilled. โ€œYou donโ€™t know about it?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve been with you the entire time. How the hell would I know?โ€

Catlin froze. Her entire body went rigid. Thatโ€™s right. She had always been with Chad, and he had never arranged for anyone under him to do such things. Besides, he didnโ€™t have the capability to do so.

โ€œCould it be the Ashford?โ€

The Ashford family. Thinking about Graceโ€™s current attitude toward Olivia, Catlin felt that it was a possibility. After all, the Ashford family was absolutely capable of such things. At this thought, Catlinโ€™s breath hitched. โ€œThat Graceโ€ฆ sheโ€™s a lunatic.โ€

In a panic, she rushed to find Chris. Chris wasnโ€™t asleep either. With the complicated relationship between Stefi and Sebastian weighing on his mind, he was already overwhelmed.

When Catlin found him and explained everything, his expression stiffened. โ€œThe medical team has withdrawn?โ€

โ€œYes! How could your mother do this? Olivia is seriously ill right now! Is she trying to let Olivia die?โ€

Hearing that Oliviaโ€™s team of specialists had all been dismissed and that the hospital had even demanded she be discharged first thing in the morning, a flash of anger surged through Chrisโ€™s eyes. He immediately called Grace, but it seemed she had already gone to bed, with her phone on silent. He tried twice and still couldnโ€™t get through. Finally, he resorted to calling the houseโ€™s landline.

When a servant answered and heard that Chris wanted Grace to be woken up, they hesitated. โ€œMr. Ashford, itโ€™s quite lateโ€ฆ. Madamโ€”โ€

โ€œGo wake her up.โ€ Chrisโ€™s cold voice cut the servant off, his tone laced with icy sharpness. The servant had no choice but to relent. โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll go now.โ€ They feared being scolded by Grace for waking her but were even more afraid of angering Chris.

About ten minutes later, Graceโ€™s irritated voice came through. โ€œChris, are you out of your mind?!โ€ In the middle of the night, stirring up trouble like thisโ€ฆ.

โ€œDid you withdraw Oliviaโ€™s team of specialists?โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œDid you pressure the hospital?โ€
