Chapter 245

Chris asked directly, his voice filled with restrained fury. โ€œAre you crazy?โ€

โ€œMother!โ€ he continued. โ€œSheโ€™s already sick with so many ailments. How much longer can she even live? Do you think Iโ€™d waste my time dealing with her?โ€

Graceโ€™s anger flared, and her words were anything but kind. She scolded Chris without restraint, then hung up the phone without hesitation.

Chris listened to the beeping tone from the other end of the call, his brows furrowing deeply as he glanced at Carlin. โ€œIt wasnโ€™t her.โ€

Based on Graceโ€™s reaction, it didnโ€™t seem like she was behind it.

Catlin asked, โ€œThen who else could it be?โ€

Besides Grace, who else would want Olivia dead this badly? Waitโ€ฆ there was someone else โ€“ Stephanie.

As soon as Stephanie came to mind, Catlinโ€™s face turned ghostly pale. โ€œIt was Stephanie. It has to be her! It must be her!โ€

If she could take down the Hart Group, then targeting Olivia was only logical. Chrisโ€™s expression turned even colder at the mention of Stephanie.

Catlin was completely frantic. โ€œChris, you have to save Olivia! What does Stephanie want?โ€ Hadnโ€™t she caused the Hart Group enough trouble? Was she really trying to kill Olivia?

Chris said, โ€œIโ€™ll handle it.โ€

Catlin was beside herself with anxiety. Only now did she fully realize what Stephanie had become. She had always thought of Stephanie as just a girl raised by a country family โ€“ uncultured, clueless, insignificant. But now, this so-called โ€œcountry girlโ€ hadโ€ฆ

At that realization, Catlinโ€™s face turned even paler.

โ€œYou go back first,โ€ Chris said.

โ€œThe hospital is forcing Olivia to leave tomorrow morning, Chris. Theyโ€™re trying to let her die!โ€ Catlin choked out.

Chris nodded. โ€œI know.โ€ At that moment, he was suppressing his rage with great effort. After some time, he finally managed to send Catlin away.

Then he called for Kevin. โ€œWhere are Stephanie and Mr. Giovanni staying?โ€

Kevin answered, โ€œThe private Wooden Villa on the mountainside.โ€

Wooden Villa? That place had never been open to outsiders. As expected from the heir of the Lucano family โ€“ wherever he went, he was in the best place. And this Stephanieโ€ฆ

Thinking about how she had been raised in the Lucano family, Chris felt a suffocating sense of pressure. He had even forgotten to tell Catlin about this. First, he needed to deal with Oliviaโ€™s situation.

โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€ Chris stood up, grabbed his coat, and put it on.

Kevin looked at him in confusion. โ€œGo where?โ€

โ€˜Is he planning to confront Stephanie? Now?โ€™ Kevin wondered. Mr. Giovanni was there too! Wasnโ€™t this basically walking into a death trap?

After they got back, Sebastian received a phone call and left. Probably because Stephanie had some drinks, she lay on the bed, slipping into a soft slumber again. It was always like this โ€“ whenever she drank, her body would feel weak and drained of energy.

Half-asleep, she vaguely heard someone calling her from outside. But she was too tired. She turned over and continued sleeping.

Downstairs, Chris and Kevin stood there. Seeing Chris calling out directly, Kevin couldnโ€™t help but remind him, โ€œSir, arenโ€™t you afraid of angering Mr. Giovanni?โ€

Chris asked, โ€œAnd what else am I supposed to do? You got a better idea?โ€ The issue at the hospital was definitely Stephanieโ€™s doing, and right now, he couldnโ€™t even get through to her phone. If shouting her name didnโ€™t work, he really had no other options.

โ€œStephanie!โ€ He called out loudly.

Kevin was speechless. He had a bad feeling about tonight. Chris kept shouting for a full three minutes, but there was no response. This only fueled his frustration.

Just as he was about to call out again, the sound of a car engine suddenly came from behind. A strong beam of headlights swept across the courtyard.

Chris turned around and saw Elliot stepping out of the car, respectfully opening the door for the man in the back. Sebastian emerged, his presence sharp and imposing, with Lorenzo following closely behind.

Chris had no words to say. Kevin thought, โ€˜Damn. Theyโ€™re screwed!โ€™ Sebastianโ€™s gaze was already cold, but at the sight of Chris standing there, a dangerous glint flickered in his eyes.

His voice was as chilling as the night air. โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Chris pressed his lips into a thin line, his eyes scanning Sebastian before landing on the scarf wrapped around his chest. The faint stains of blood on the fabric made Chrisโ€™s breath hitch.
