Chapter 313

The butler went pale, panic in his eyes. โ€œSir, Iโ€”itโ€™sโ€”โ€

Stephanie tugged Sebastianโ€™s sleeve lightly, jumping in. โ€œThey cleaned it earlier. Itโ€™s just too damn cold or threatening.โ€

The butler shot her a thankful look, letting out a shaky breath. She wasnโ€™t lyingโ€”half an hour ago, the staff had cleared it. Theyโ€™d been busting their asses all day, but with the cold biting and snow stacking up, it was pointless.

Sebastian eyed Stephanieโ€™s soggy feet. โ€œGo change your shoes.โ€

โ€œOn it,โ€ she said with a quick nod, all chill.

A maid bolted off, grabbing a fresh pair of dry slippers in no time flat. Sebastian and Lorenzo had things to sort out, so they headed to the study after tossing out a few orders.

Stephanie was halfway up the stairs to swap her shoes when her phone buzzedโ€”Ella, calling and sobbing her head off. Stephanie sighed. โ€œI know it was an accident. Just not sure Lorenzoโ€™s buying that.โ€

โ€œWhat? Whatโ€™re you saying?โ€ Ellaโ€™s voice broke over the phone, panic spilling out. Sheโ€™d been a wreck earlierโ€”heart still racing, wishing she could zap back in time and wipe out that whole embarrassing mess. Sheโ€™d never felt so humiliated.

Stephanie cut in, steady but firm. โ€œJust stay away from him from now on.โ€

Lorenzo might act like some laid-back rich kid, but he was troubleโ€”hard to figure out.

Ellaโ€™s words spilled out fast. โ€œWait, what? I didnโ€™t mean toโ€”did I actually tick him off? Stefi, youโ€™ve got to back me up here, please!โ€

Sheโ€™d figured it out by now: the people around Stephanie werenโ€™t exactly warm and fuzzy. Even Tyler was stuck in the hospital with a bullet in him. That was how crazy it got.

Stephanie sighed. โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll say something. But you probably wonโ€™t see him again anyway.โ€ Sheโ€™d smooth things over, sure, but no guarantees itโ€™d matter. She and Sebastian were headed back to Fiorenza soonโ€”just a matter of time. And if Sebastian wasnโ€™t around, Lorenzo wouldnโ€™t be either.

Ella kept rambling, still rattled. โ€œOh my God, Stefi, you donโ€™t even knowโ€”I slipped and couldnโ€™t stop myself. I just grabbed whatever was close!โ€

โ€œAnd it had to be his belt buckle. Thank God I didnโ€™t pull his pants down, or Iโ€™d be done for,โ€ she added, her voice jumping with desperation.

Stephanie groaned. โ€œCan you chill?โ€

Chapter 813

โ€œI didnโ€™t mean to!โ€ Ella shot back, sounding like she might cry.

Stephanie let out a breath. โ€œI know it wasnโ€™t on purpose.โ€

โ€œI just froze,โ€ Ella muttered, so quiet you could barely hear, still wincing at the thought. No surprise there. Her brain had blanked out for a good few seconds, nothing but static. Everyone watching? Dead quiet. The whole thing was so cringe it made your skin crawl. They talked it out on the phone for a bit, the chat eventually shifting to Caitlin.

Ellaโ€™s curiosity kicked in. โ€œSo, whatโ€™d Caitlin want? Still about Olivia?โ€

โ€œHer sonโ€™s still laid up in the hospital, you know,โ€ she mumbled under her breath.

If Caitlin was still hounding Stephanie over Olivia while Tyler was down, Ella couldnโ€™t tell if she was brave or just oblivious.

โ€œShe keeps this up, Chadโ€™s gonna snap eventually. What if she blows up her own marriage and still points the finger at you?โ€ Ella couldnโ€™t help but say.

Stephanie had drifted back to the sunroom by then, her steps quiet on the wood floor. The coffee was still warm. She poured herself a little extra, holding it as she talked, โ€œLet her blame me. I donโ€™t care. Tylerโ€™s getting out soon anyway.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Ella blinked, caught off guard.

Stephanie took a sip, cool as ever. โ€œYou know meโ€”I donโ€™t cave just because someoneโ€™s throwing shade.โ€

โ€œFair,โ€ Ella said with a nod, totally getting it. Sheโ€™d seen it up close: these past few months of drama, Stephanie hadnโ€™t flinched once. She didnโ€™t take crap from anybody.

Caitlin showing up today? Probably just more guilt trips and finger-pointing. And yet Caitlin kept coming back, gutsy enough to poke the bear again. Stephanie wasnโ€™t exactly the type to back off eitherโ€”she lived for pushing back.

Take Tyler: he was the latest one to get hit. First Olivia, now him. It just kept going. Chad might be easygoing, but even he had a breaking point. Their house had to be a total mess by now.

Ella treaded lightly. โ€œThe Hart family falling apartโ€”itโ€™s not really your fault, you know.โ€

Stephanie raised an eyebrow. โ€œOh?โ€

Ella stumbled over her words. โ€œUh, well, you knowโ€ฆโ€ She faded out, her voice heavy with second-guessing, like she wasnโ€™t sure how to unload this on Stephanie.

The Hart family was a total messโ€”everybody got that. A screwed-up crew that churned out chaos like it was their job.

Stephanie took a sip of her coffee, chill as always, while Ella danced around it.

โ€œWhatโ€™d you catch this time?โ€ she asked, smooth and steady.

Ella groaned. โ€œIโ€™m not into gossip, alright? But itโ€™s like the world keeps throwing it at meโ€”what am I supposed to do, ignore it?โ€

Chapter 318

Stephanie set her cup down with a little clink.

From Ellaโ€™s vibe, Stephanie knew it wasnโ€™t good news.

Ella dropped her voice low, like she was leaking top-secret info. โ€œSo, on my way here, Iโ€ฆ sort ofโ€ฆ saw Chadโ€ฆโ€

Stephanieโ€™s brow ticked up. โ€œYeahโ€ฆ?โ€

Ella rushed on, quiet and fast. โ€œHe was with some lady. She had a stroller, and there wereโ€ฆ kidsโ€ฆ behind them.โ€

Stephanie went silent. The room felt still, just the light smell of coffee drifting around the sunroom.
