Chapter 346
Sebastian opened the door and saw Elliot standing outside, looking serious. “We’ve got some issues,” Elliot said.
Sebastian frowned, quickly glancing back at Stephanie before leaving with Elliot.
Stephanie hopped out of bed, hastily putting on her pants and socks. A brand-new phone sat on the dresser waiting for her; it must have been prepared by Sebastian. She grabbed it and called Ella.
Ella asked about Stephanie’s situation and was relieved to hear she was fine. Then, Ella started to share what she knew. “Stefi, you won’t believe it. Mrs. Hart knows everything now and is making a big fuss about splitting the assets. And Amber is trying to force her way into the Hart residence. She’s really unhappy about Tyler and Olivia. If she moves in, it’s going to be chaos for the Harts. She might beat Olivia up.”
Just listening to Ella made Stephanie imagine how messy things were at the Hart residence. The memory of Amber and Lilian fighting in the video, along with Olivia’s fake-nice persona and Amber’s fiery temper, brought a smirk to her face. Tyler and Olivia definitely needed a doctor. Catlin was already aware of the twins’ situation while Amber was causing a scene. This would drive Catlin to the brink.
“The Hart family probably needs a doctor more than anything right now, right?” Stephanie asked.
Tyler and Olivia were both at the Hart residence, doing their best to hold it together, but Olivia’s health was a total wildcard. She was in rough shape.
Ella chimed in, “Speaking of doctors, I remembered something. Yesterday, Chris defied Mrs. Ashford and tried to call their family doctor for Tyler and Olivia. Want to guess what happened today?”
“What happened?” Stephanie asked, recalling how Chris had previously tried to convince Sebastian over the phone. But right now, neither she nor Sebastian was in any mood for compromise.
Ella continued, “Chris went to the Hart residence, and when he left, he kicked over one of their flowerpots at the entrance.”
Stephanie thought, “What? Why?”
“The pot shattered. He kicked it like he wanted to tear the whole place down,” Ella said.
“What got him so worked up?” Stephanie asked.
Chris throwing a fit at the Hart residence seemed out of character.
Ella shrugged. “No idea what went down inside, but something set him off. He didn’t even wait to unleash his anger until he was away from the house—he did it right there at the entrance. You know how much Chris cares about Olivia.”
Normally, Chris was the kind of guy who’d keep his cool in any situation, but he really delivered that kick.
“Did he get into an argument with Olivia?” Stephanie asked.
“No way! Olivia’s practically on her last legs. What could they even argue about?” Ella replied.
Even if there were differences, Chris would definitely hold back unless it was something major. What could have set him off? “What if Olivia was dating boys abroad and Chris found out?” Stephanie suggested.
“Umm… That actually seems possible,” Ella replied. After all, people usually expect loyalty from their partners.
“Doesn’t Chris always trust Olivia?” Stephanie asked, recalling how he’d get defensive anytime someone spoke poorly of Olivia.
“Maybe he found out she had a secret rendezvous?” Ella asked.
“Do you really think she’s in any condition to be sneaking around right now?” Stephanie said.
Even if Olivia wanted to date someone, her health certainly didn’t allow for that.
“True, which is why we have no clue what’s really going on. And Chris is acting like he’s done caring about Olivia. Honestly, things just keep getting worse for her,” Ella concluded.
With the Hart family in chaos, they barely had time to think about Olivia. Chris was the one she could’ve really counted on, but now he seemed fed up. Anyway, her life will not be easy from now on.
“Whatever. Let’s not talk about them anymore. I think you’ve got your revenge on the Hart family pretty much covered,” Ella said.
Though Stephanie hadn’t lifted a finger, seeing the Hart family in turmoil felt like fate giving them their comeuppance. Especially with Olivia—she didn’t need Stephanie to take her on; karma was already doing its job.
Stephanie paused, feeling something was off. “How do you know all this, Ella?”
The Hart residence was quite a distance from where Ella was.
Ella grinned. “I was busy doing some interviews at the Hart residence and just happened to see Chris come out and kick that flowerpot.”
Stephanie couldn’t help but think, ‘Ella, you must have a sixth sense for gossip. You find it no matter where you go.’
“By the way, Allison is coming back. Are you heading back to Long Harbor now? If you are, I bet Mrs. Hart will be all over you again. But honestly, she probably doesn’t have time for that right now,” Ella said.
After all, a guy who’s been sharing a bed with Catlin for years suddenly had twins outside. Who could blame her for being preoccupied?
After chatting for a bit, Stephanie hung up just as Sebastian walked in. “Looks like we’re not having spicy food after all.”
“Why not?” Stephanie exclaimed.
Sebastian walked over and gently ruffled her soft hair, sliding off the thick jacket she was wearing. “We need to get to Keris Isle right now.”
“Right now?” Stephanie asked, wide-eyed.
