Chris no longer paid attention to Olivia; that was already a foregone conclusion. During their talk, Olivia called Chris, but Bruce saw for himself how Chris and Mork were close. Who would have thought things would come to this?

Zachary asked, “So, how do you feel about Stephan—”

When this question came up, Bruce looked at Chris. “Don’t touch anything to do with Surplunk. The Laras Samy Fiorenza is serious business—definitely not a place for reckless behavior, Chris.”

Chris stayed silent. A bitter smile appeared on his face. “Do I even have the right to? I drooled over her, her sexy fiancée, for two years, and we were about to get married. But now, I can’t even see her.”

He really regretted it now. If he hadn’t suggested calling off the wedding, Serghani would be his wife by now. No matter how powerful the Lucano family in Florenza was, Stephanie would be his.

Bruce shook his head. “No.” Stephanie grew up with the Lucano family and was very well connected. Sebastian had feelings for Stephanie from the beginning.

Chris felt a pain in his heart like never before. Just as he was about to say something, his phone rang—a phone call from the Ashford residence. In a daze, Chris picked up. “Hello.”

“Mr. Ashford, you need to come home quickly; there’s been a big incident,” came Steve’s voice on the phone. Chris asked, “What’s happening?” He had recently completely cut off contact with Olivia, so he couldn’t think of any incident that could possibly be going on at the Ashford residence.

Steve replied, “You should come back first. Madam has fainted, and Claire is already on her way home.”

Chris was speechless. Even Claire was called back. “What exactly is going on?”

Just as Chris finished asking, he heard Grace’s loud voice over the phone. “I’m telling you, even if it’s the last thing I do, I won’t let him into the house!”

Fred said, “What are you doing? Put the knife down.”

Grace shouted, “Make him leave, now!”

The argument between Grace and Fred was very intense. Chris was confused; he knew their relationship had always been strong. Such a fight was enough to sober him up quickly.

Steve was also trying to persuade Grace. “Ma’am, please put the knife down.”

“Don’t come near, all of you, stay back! Let him leave; make him go!” Grace screamed hysterically.

Feeling the intensity of the emotions, Chris realized the seriousness of the situation. He hung up the phone and stood up. Having had a lot to drink, and feeling a bit unsteady, he staggered toward the door.

Seeing this, Bruce and Zachary quickly followed suit.

When Stephanie woke up the next morning, Sebastian was already gone, and Ella called her.

Ella said, “I’ve found a lead on the matter you asked me to investigate.”

Stephanie, still a bit groggy, heard Ella’s words and turned over, asking, “What is it?”

Ella said, “It’s about Chad and the finance director.”

Hearing this, Stephanie was wide awake, sitting up straight in bed. “What’s going on?” Ella never missed a thing. Even when far away in Fiorenza, she was on top of all the gossip in Long Harbor, and her connections hadn’t been affected by her mother.

Ella replied, “It’s a long story.”

“Just give me the short version.”

“That finance director is Olivia’s aunt.”

“What the heck? Aunt?” Stephanie’s mind momentarily froze.

“She is the sister of the babysitter who secretly left you.”
