Chapter 443
Catlinโs breathing, already uneasy, tightened as she saw the photos. Behind them was a document and Oliviaโs call records, with one number highlightedโthe mistressโs. Looking at the long list of numbers, tracking how often Olivia contacted that woman, Catlin looked at the butler in shock. โThisโฆโ
She was so shocked she couldnโt even speak. She glanced again at the documents in her hand. They detailed the procedures for the mistress entering the company, and the role Olivia played in it. She got the pictureโthe mistress was brought into the company by Olivia. Instantly, Catlinโs mind went completely blank, and all the blood in her body seemed to flow backward uncontrollably.
โMaโam, whatโs wrong?โ The butlerโs terrified voice pierced through, and the atmosphere in the entire living room suddenly turned tense.
Stephanie and Allison had just finished their coffee and were planning to grab some food when Allisonโs phone started ringing. Stephanie thought it was Yanis calling. It seemed Allison had been through a lot with the Lewis family lately. Even if she didnโt say it, Stephanie could sense her resistance towards them now.
After hearing the news over the phone, Allison looked shocked. โOkay, I got it.โ She hung up and looked at Stephanie. โCatlin has been admitted to the hospital.โ
Among Stephanieโs friends, whenever Catlin was mentioned, they would usually never say anything like โyour mom,โ it was always โCatlin.โ Such a mother, everyone knew, wasnโt fit to be Stephanieโs mom. And in Stephanieโs heart, she wasnโt her mom at all.
Stephanie raised an eyebrow. โWhatโs going on?โ
โI donโt know; itโs a call from a coworker at the hospital. If her health declines again, the Hart family is going to be in even bigger trouble.โ
The Hart family was already in enough trouble. If Catlin fell, no one would be there for Olivia. Stephanie said, โI think I know why Catlin ended up in the hospital. This time itโs probably because of Olivia.โ
Allison asked, โWhat?โ
โElla looked into your rumors, and they turned out to be true.โ
โOh my God.โ It was terrifying just hearing those things, and now they were confirmed. โWhat exactly has Catlin been protecting all these years?โ
โShe did a good job teaching Olivia; at least she knows who to trust and who not to.โ
Allison couldnโt agree more. Catlin was always said to have trouble discerning who was close and who wasn't. It seemed Olivia was really good at it.
โSheโs probably going crazy,โ Allison said.
Stephanie said, โYou never know, she might crawl out of the hospital to keep figuring things out for Olivia.โ
Hearing this, Allison suddenly felt bewildered. โAlright, this has nothing to do with you anymore.โ
Exactly. Anyway, Stephanie was heading back to Fiorenza. Even Long Harbor wouldnโt have anything to do with her so long as the Hart family remained involved.
The two of them linked arms and went to find a place to eat. Allison got another phone call, and it was again about Catlin. After hanging up, she said to Stephanie, โSheโs really upset this time. She might not be able to make it.โ
When Stephanie heard the news, she felt calm. It wasnโt that she was cold, but she honestly didnโt have any feelings for these people, especially after how they treated her when she got back to Long Harbor. Not making their situation worse was already kind of her.
โPoor Olivia,โ Allison said. If Catlin really passed away, then Olivia wouldnโt matter much at the Hart family anymore.
The two walked into the restaurant. Just as they were about to order, Stephanieโs phone rang. It was Sebastian, saying, โNo spicy food.โ
Stephanie replied, โYeah, I know.โ Her health hadnโt completely recovered yet. Sebastian letting her out was already uncommon. If she dared to cause trouble by eating the wrong things, future outings would be off the menu.
After ending the call with Sebastian, Allison grinned at her. โSebastian is really good to you.โ
Stephanie replied, โHe wonโt be just my brother anymore.โ
Allison asked, โHuh?โ
Stephanie said, โWeโre getting married.โ
Allison felt a twinge of emotion at the word โmarried,โ but it quickly faded. โCongratulations,โ she said. Marriage was really wonderful.
Stephanie asked, โWhat about you and Yanis? When are you guys planning to get married?โ
