Chapter 505
In the VIP lounge, Sebastian asked if Stephanie wanted something to eat, but she just shook her head. Her appetite had been dwindling lately.
โI had Elliot make some blueberry oatmeal,โ Sebastian said. โWant to give it a try?โ
Stephanie nestled closer to him. โNot right now,โ she murmured. Her appetite was really off.
Sebastian gently ran his fingers through her hair. โYou can eat a little later,โ he said softly. He used to worry about her eating too much and upsetting her stomach, but now he was more worried about her not eating at all.
Macro burst into the airport, out of breath, just as Stephanie was being hugged by Sebastian. โI got the meds,โ he said. There was so much traffic; he almost got stuck in Long Harbor just trying to buy some medicine.
He handed the two packs of medicine to the nearby waiter. โUse one pack of each. Thanks.โ
The waiter nodded politely. โAlright.โ
Macro dropped onto the couch opposite Sebastian and took a long drink from the water bottle he was holding. He was exhaustedโtraffic had been a mess, and heโd even run part of the way, fearing he wouldnโt make it. Luckily, they hadnโt boarded the plane yet.
After gulping down half the water, Macro glanced at Sebastian. โWhy are you staring at me like that?โ He found Sebastianโs gaze creepy.
Sebastian leaned back, his expression serious. โThe project at the Moalee Desert needs your attention. I donโt trust them to handle it.โ
Macroโs face froze, then twisted in confusion. โWhy bring it up again? It has been a joke before, but nowโฆ Whatโs really going on?โ he wondered. His grip tightened on the bottle. โYou must be joking, huh?โ he said, his voice tight. The Moalee Desertโwhere even the toughest creatures would struggle to survive. It was no place for people, and Macro wasnโt going.
Sebastian moved Stephanie aside, picked up a piece of fruit from the table, and handed it to her with a gentle smile. His actions were gentle, but his words hit Macro like a brick. โWhen have I ever joked?โ he said, his tone serious.
Macroโs eyes widened. โWait, seriously? Youโve got a team of top-notch people. Whatโs the worry?โ
Macro shook his head. โLook, Iโm not going. Not happening.โ He couldnโt believe Sebastian was sending him to the Moalee Desert. โIf he has a problem with me, he can just say it. No need for this drama,โ he thought.
Sebastian glanced at him sideways, not saying a word.
Macro felt a shiver. โYouโre really serious?โ
Sebastian just gave a slight nod. Macroโs face turned serious. Heโd thought Sebastian was kidding about sending him to the Moalee Desert, but now he realized Sebastian was serious.
โCome on, man. I just killed myself getting that medicine for Stefi. You canโt be serious about this, right?โ Macro said.
Stephanie was holding a piece of fruit, not really hungry but feeling awkward just holding it. Hearing Macroโs words, she looked at him, puzzled. โDoes getting medicine really need to be that dangerous?โ
Macro fell silent. โOf course not. I was just trying to impress Sebastian with how hard Iโve worked. She really had zero clue,โ he thought to himself.
The waiter arrived with the medicine, and Macro pointed to Stephanie. โGive it to her. Sheโs the one whoโs sick.โ
The waiter nodded and set the cup in front of Stephanie. โMs. Giovanni, this has been warmed up. Let me know if itโs too hot.โ
โThanks,โ Stephanie said with a smile.
โNo problem,โ the waiter replied.
Stephanie picked up the cup, tested the temperature, and noddedโit was just right.
She was about to take a sip when Sebastian reached out and grabbed her wrist. โHold on a sec,โ he said.
Stephanie looked at him, confused. โWhatโs up?โ
Macro turned to Sebastian, equally baffled. โIs she not supposed to take the medicine if she isnโt feeling well?โ he wondered. Sebastian glanced at Macro sharply. โAre you sure she needs to take this?โ
