Chapter 517
She felt like she was about to go crazy. She thought, โTomorrow morning is my only chance to get away from him, and now heโs saying I canโt leave him for a second? Seriously?โ
Lorenzoโs gaze grew even darker. โWhy should I trust you?โ he asked. โDo we even have a trusting relationship?โ
Ella knew there was no trust between them. Realistically, she and Lorenzo didnโt even have a proper relationship, so asking him to trust her was a big ask. But the thought of not leaving his side was too much for her. She just couldnโt handle it.
โPlease believe me. I swear I didnโt mean it this time. You have to trust me,โ Ella pleaded, bending down as she begged.
It was clear she was desperate to get away from him. Lorenzo responded flatly, โWe will figure out if you did it on purpose.โ He insisted on getting to the bottom of the matter.
Ella felt her head start to spin. She didnโt expect him to be so persistent. โHow long is this going to take?โ she asked.
Under Lorenzoโs firm tone, Ella collapsed, and all her energy seemed to drain away. Lorenzo said, โHard to say.โ
Ella was already mentally frustrated, and hearing โhard to sayโ made her feel like everything was crashing down around her. She originally didnโt want to spend another minute with him. Now, he said he was uncertain when this would be over. Ella was so angry that she almost cried right there.
โHow efficient are your people?โ She had no choice but to put her hopes in his people. She just wanted them to hurry, clear her name, and let her leave.
But again, she heard him say, โThatโs alsoโฆ hard to say.โ
Ella thought, โHard to say? Then just stop talking! If this keeps going, I might really go crazy.โ
Lorenzo glanced at his watch and said, โGo make some food.โ Ella stared at him, shocked. However, as if heโd just thought of something, Lorenzo added, โNever mind. Iโll have someone else take care of it.โ
He could tell that Ellaโs cooking skills were a bit hit or miss. Sheโd made some decent meals before, but now, he didnโt trust her to cook. She might burn everything.
Ella had no idea how she got out of Lorenzoโs room. Then she stormed off to her own room and tried calling Stephanie. But the call wouldnโt go through. Stephanie was on a plane. Even with the special arrangements, the signal wasnโt always stable.
Meanwhile, on the plane, Sebastian reassured Stephanie, and she quickly fell back to sleep. He made sure to tuck her in carefully.
As Sebastian stepped out of the lounge, he spotted Macro sipping red wine. When Macro saw him, he immediately turned away, still looking annoyed. Sebastian took a seat on the couch across from him.
Macro grunted. โIs Stefi still asleep?โ
Sebastian didnโt answer. Instead, he poured himself a glass of wine. Macro pouted, clearly unhappy.
Thinking about Stephanieโs situation, Macro had never really considered it before. After all, Sebastian had always treated her well. โShe gets pregnant before getting married? Well, as he said, who would dare say anything bad about her?โ Macro thought.
Sebastian took a sip of his wine. โSo, who exactly made you the expert โdoctorโ around here?โ
โWhatโs that supposed to mean? Are you questioning my medical skills?โ Macro asked.
Sebastian just hummed in response. โNot questioning. You just arenโt as good as you think.โ
Macroโs breath caught, and he was clearly annoyed. โCome on. Iโm not an OB-GYN. Shouldnโt that be her best friendโs job?โ Macro snapped.
Sebastian took another sip. โThe human bodyโs simple. You donโt even get the basics of anatomy, and you think youโre some kind of genius?โ
Macroโs face twisted. โHey, you didnโt have to put it like that.โ
โWhat does he mean I donโt know anatomy? Itโs impossible to reason with someone like him,โ he thought, frustrated. โI see what heโs doing. Heโs trying to send me to Moalee Desert, pretending itโs because they need me there.โ
