Chapter 521

Stephanie thought to herself, โ€˜Damn, I just wanna shut him up.โ€™ Sofiaโ€™s mind went blank for a second, and she shot Macro a deadly glare. She already knew Stefi and Sebastian were together, but Macroโ€™s teasing pushed her over the edge. โ€œWhat the hell are you talking about?โ€ she snapped, and then she tried to kick Macro.

Sofia never got along with either Macro or Luca. Luca was annoying because of her temper, and Macro was just plain irritating with his mouth. Macro dodged quickly, but Sofia lost her balance and ended up kicking his suitcase instead. The suitcase flew several feet, landing with a loud thud. People passing through the airport paused, shocked by the scene, but they quickly turned away, not wanting to get involved.

Macro stared at his suitcase, now wide open with his stuff scattered everywhere, and he got angry, too. โ€œSofia, you crazy woman, go live with Luca. No man would want to be with women like you two,โ€ he shouted. โ€˜Damn, look at this womanโ€™s temper and strength,โ€™ he thought.

Sofiaโ€™s blood boiled at the mention of Lucaโ€™s name. It reminded her of all the valuable things Luca had conned out of her when she tried to bring Stephanie back. The thought made her furious. โ€œYou dare bring up Luca again? Fine, letโ€™s do this. Luca ran off, but youโ€™re still gonna pay me back for what she owes me,โ€ she said.

Just thinking about the nice things Luca got from her made Sofia feel a pang of frustration. For weeks, sheโ€™d been trying to track Luca down, but that damn woman had managed to escape with everything she owed Sofia. โ€˜That damn womanโ€ฆ Now with Macro here, he can help his sister pay up,โ€™ Sofia thought.

Being a tightwad, Macro wasnโ€™t having any of it. โ€œWhat do you mean I pay? Donโ€™t even think about it,โ€ he snapped. โ€œSo you want me to beat you up to make you pay? The Vitale family doesnโ€™t have a single decent person. All you do is scam people. Watch me knock some sense into you today!โ€ Sofia yelled.

โ€œIโ€™m not involved with Luca, alright? What do you think youโ€™re doing? Donโ€™t come near me!โ€ Macro yelled, backing up.

Stephanie watched as Sofia, who had been holding her earlier, got into a full-blown argument with Macro. Before long, they were literally chasing each other. Then Stephanie glanced at Sebastian. Sebastian grabbed her hand and started walking toward the exit. โ€œLetโ€™s go home.โ€ โ€œStefi, wait. Iโ€™m not done yet,โ€ Sofia growled from behind.

But just as that happened, Sofia turned right back to arguing with Macro. By the looks of it, Luca had really done a number on her. No wonder Sofia was so furious. She wasnโ€™t one to hold grudges, but now she wouldnโ€™t let Macro off the hook.

Macro also yelled from behind, โ€œSebastian, stop your sister. This is insane.โ€ But neither Stephanie nor Sebastian even bothered to talk to him. They just kept walking toward the car. The long convoy slowly rolled out of the airport.

Henry handed a small thermal container to Stephanie, his smile full of warmth. โ€œMs. Giovanni, Mrs. Lucano heard youโ€™ve been having a tough time eating lately. She figured you might not have eaten much on the plane, so she had me bring you something.โ€ Mentioning Lottie made Stephanie feel a lump in her throat. โ€œIs Mom home?โ€

Henry shook his head. โ€œShe left early this morning, and she wonโ€™t be back until later tonight. She told me to let you know to go home and wait for her instead of wandering off.โ€ His words made Stephanie feel like a child again. Every weekend, before Lottie went out, sheโ€™d say the same thingโ€”stay home, behave, and some kids would come over to play. She was never allowed to go out with her friends.

The Lucano family and the Giovanni family had a special place in Fiorenza. They had their share of enemies, both openly and behind the scenes. Even though the Giovanni family was the most feared in the country, they preferred to avoid any accidents. So, when Stephanie was little, even though she had friends, her family never let her go out and play. Instead, they always made her friends come over to their house to keep her company.

Sebastian took and opened the thermal container, and the familiar smell hit him. It was food that Stephanie knew all too wellโ€”the kind that made her feel at home.
