Chapter 568

Sebastian went to take a shower while Stephanie turned over and drifted into a light sleep again. Half-awake, Stephanie was finally pulled back to consciousness by her vibrating phone. She groggily grabbed it and answered, “Hello?”

Stephanie was exhausted. Ever since she got pregnant, her routine had become incredibly regular. When it was time to sleep, she couldn’t stay up late even if she tried.

“Stefi, I know I was wrong. Please, let me go, I’m begging you. I’m almost dead,” Olivia’s panicked voice came over the phone, pleading for mercy.

Stephanie’s drowsiness vanished instantly. As soon as her eyes opened, she was completely alert. “How did you get my number?”

Stephanie thought, ‘Not to mention blocking her number, I had even changed it completely. I’m using a Fiorenza number now, yet Olivia still finds my phone number. It seems Olivia isn’t as simple as she appears!’

Olivia replied, “I–I…”

“Don’t you explain it?” Stephanie coldly uttered the words, her tone full of danger.

Olivia said, “I–I asked Kevin to help me.”

Stephanie thought, ‘Kevin, someone close to Chris. Having worked at the Ashford Group for so long and as the CEO’s assistant, he had the skills to trace a number. But he helped Olivia.’

In Stephanie’s view, Kevin wasn’t very fond of Olivia. Stephanie wasn’t sure if Chris knew, but she once saw Kevin glaring at Olivia with pure dislike.

Stephanie thought, ‘Kevin dislikes Olivia that much, yet he still helped her find my number? What’s Kevin up to?’

Stephanie let out a cold laugh. “You’re quite shrewd, aren’t you? Why not just use those connections around the Ashford family to marry right in? That would solve everything, wouldn’t it?” Her tone was full of sarcasm.

Olivia was good at managing social situations, even if the elders of the Ashford family didn’t like her. However, Stephanie believed that Olivia had bribed those trusted by the Ashford family elders.

Stephanie thought, “Thinking about how Olivia returned to Long Harbor with such arrogance, I thought her backbone would be as strong as her arrogance. But really, this is all?”

On the other end of the call, Olivia was sitting under a big tree outside Ashford’s residence, feeling cold, tired, and utterly miserable.

Even though Stephanie’s words were cutting, Olivia was burning with anger but didn’t dare show it. “Stefi, I know I was wrong. Can you forgive me, please? I was wrong before. Can you call Mrs. Ashford and ask her not to treat me like this? I’m begging you.” At this moment, Olivia felt that only Stephanie could help her. She really couldn’t go back to the Hart residence now.

Olivia thought, ‘Catlin has been locked inside and hasn’t come out yet. Tyler’s attitude towards me has changed drastically. Even my aunt, who was supposed to help me in times like this, turned out to be so ungrateful. Only Chris.’ At this moment, Olivia felt that Chris was her only hope.

Stephanie said, “Let me call Mrs. Ashford. Are you crazy? Do you think that’s possible?”

Stephanie thought, ‘Olivia was supposed to get married into the Ashford family, recognized by everyone. Let me plead with the Ashford elders for her. Olivia is full of fanciful ideas.’

Olivia said, “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. It’s all my fault. I’m sorry.” Faced with Stephanie’s indifference, Olivia kept pleading. She was scared.
