Chapter 569

Stephanie hung up and thought, ‘She is insane.’ Just as she hung up, Olivia’s voice continued over the phone. “Or you could call Chris and tell him the accident wasn’t my fault.”

Stephanie thought, ‘No sane person would say something like that. I can’t waste time on this. I should hang up and block them.’

She just hung up the phone when there was a knock on the door. “Stefi, it’s me.” Lottie’s voice came from outside.

Stephanie instinctively wanted to open the door, but her face froze when she heard the water running in the bathroom. Stephanie thought, ‘Even though my mom is okay with me being with Sebastian, having my mom see him showering in my room is another issue altogether.’

Stephanie’s face kept getting tenser and tenser. She wasn’t sure whether to open the door or play sleep.

In her anxious state, the water stopped, and seconds later, Sebastian emerged wrapped in a towel. He held another towel to dry his hair.

Seeing Stephanie sitting on the bed with her phone, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Did someone call you?”

Stephanie was about to tell about her mom’s visit when Lottie’s voice sounded again from outside. “Stefi?” This time, the voice was noticeably softer and somewhat testing. If Stephanie was asleep, she wouldn’t come in.

Stephanie glanced at the closed door, then at Sebastian. While Stephanie was nervous, he seemed much more at ease, drying his hair as he moved to open the door. Stephanie was shocked.

Outside the door, Lottie realized there was no movement inside and was about to turn and leave when the door suddenly swung open. She turned and saw Sebastian looking freshly showered, which startled her.

Lottie said, “You…” She looked at the water on Sebastian’s stomach and then glanced past him to the bed where Stephanie lay.

Seeing Stephanie in her perfectly intact pajamas and with dry hair, Lottie shot Sebastian a glare. “You troublemaker!”

Sebastian asked, “What’s going on?”

“Yes, come out here.” Lottie snapped and gave him a stern look. As she turned to leave, she remembered something and turned back. “Put your clothes on.”

Sebastian frowned but didn’t say anything. His room was next to Stephanie’s, so he went in, put on his pajamas, and headed to the study.

Lottie was waiting in the study. When Sebastian came in, her face was still a bit flushed. Confused, Sebastian asked, “What’s wrong?”

“How do you think about it?” Lottie asked.

Sebastian replied, “Please, go ahead.”

Lottie thought, ‘Honestly, having a stubborn son isn’t always good. Is this the warm tone he should use with me? Does he think I’m his employee? So serious!’

Lottie said, “Stefi had a check-up today. Jesse mentioned the baby isn’t very stable. You better hold back yourself.”

Sebastian was speechless.

Lottie said, “I know you cherish and spoil her, but you have to restrain yourself for now.” She was straightforward.

Jesse did mention that Stephanie’s baby wasn’t very stable. So before leaving today, Lottie specifically instructed Henry to make sure Stephanie gets more nutrition.

Lottie only stepped out for a moment. When she came back, she saw Sebastian in that state in her room. She thought, ‘How could I not be startled?’

“Maybe you should just sleep in your room,” Lottie said firmly. She was worried.

Sebastian replied, “You…”

“Stefi has been frail since childhood; you need to be careful,” Lottie insisted.

Sebastian felt unable to understand her way of doing things.
