Chapter 569

Stephanie hung up and thought, โ€˜She is insane.โ€™ Just as she hung up, Oliviaโ€™s voice continued over the phone. โ€œOr you could call Chris and tell him the accident wasnโ€™t my fault.โ€

Stephanie thought, โ€˜No sane person would say something like that. I canโ€™t waste time on this. I should hang up and block them.โ€™

She just hung up the phone when there was a knock on the door. โ€œStefi, itโ€™s me.โ€ Lottieโ€™s voice came from outside.

Stephanie instinctively wanted to open the door, but her face froze when she heard the water running in the bathroom. Stephanie thought, โ€˜Even though my mom is okay with me being with Sebastian, having my mom see him showering in my room is another issue altogether.โ€™

Stephanieโ€™s face kept getting tenser and tenser. She wasnโ€™t sure whether to open the door or play sleep.

In her anxious state, the water stopped, and seconds later, Sebastian emerged wrapped in a towel. He held another towel to dry his hair.

Seeing Stephanie sitting on the bed with her phone, he raised an eyebrow and asked, โ€œDid someone call you?โ€

Stephanie was about to tell about her momโ€™s visit when Lottieโ€™s voice sounded again from outside. โ€œStefi?โ€ This time, the voice was noticeably softer and somewhat testing. If Stephanie was asleep, she wouldnโ€™t come in.

Stephanie glanced at the closed door, then at Sebastian. While Stephanie was nervous, he seemed much more at ease, drying his hair as he moved to open the door. Stephanie was shocked.

Outside the door, Lottie realized there was no movement inside and was about to turn and leave when the door suddenly swung open. She turned and saw Sebastian looking freshly showered, which startled her.

Lottie said, โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€ She looked at the water on Sebastianโ€™s stomach and then glanced past him to the bed where Stephanie lay.

Seeing Stephanie in her perfectly intact pajamas and with dry hair, Lottie shot Sebastian a glare. โ€œYou troublemaker!โ€

Sebastian asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€

โ€œYes, come out here.โ€ Lottie snapped and gave him a stern look. As she turned to leave, she remembered something and turned back. โ€œPut your clothes on.โ€

Sebastian frowned but didnโ€™t say anything. His room was next to Stephanieโ€™s, so he went in, put on his pajamas, and headed to the study.

Lottie was waiting in the study. When Sebastian came in, her face was still a bit flushed. Confused, Sebastian asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œHow do you think about it?โ€ Lottie asked.

Sebastian replied, โ€œPlease, go ahead.โ€

Lottie thought, โ€˜Honestly, having a stubborn son isnโ€™t always good. Is this the warm tone he should use with me? Does he think Iโ€™m his employee? So serious!โ€™

Lottie said, โ€œStefi had a check-up today. Jesse mentioned the baby isnโ€™t very stable. You better hold back yourself.โ€

Sebastian was speechless.

Lottie said, โ€œI know you cherish and spoil her, but you have to restrain yourself for now.โ€ She was straightforward.

Jesse did mention that Stephanieโ€™s baby wasnโ€™t very stable. So before leaving today, Lottie specifically instructed Henry to make sure Stephanie gets more nutrition.

Lottie only stepped out for a moment. When she came back, she saw Sebastian in that state in her room. She thought, โ€˜How could I not be startled?โ€™

โ€œMaybe you should just sleep in your room,โ€ Lottie said firmly. She was worried.

Sebastian replied, โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€

โ€œStefi has been frail since childhood; you need to be careful,โ€ Lottie insisted.

Sebastian felt unable to understand her way of doing things.
