Chapter 108
Seeing her silence, Sebastian's eyes grew colder; he guessed her thoughts.
Back at the hospital, Olivia was out of danger, though her face remained pale as she was wheeled into her room.
"Olivia, I'm so sorry for what she did. She let us down terribly," Catlin said.
The doctor, addressing Catlin, Tyler, and the others, explained, "Miss Hart had her stomach pumped. We detected toxins in her blood, but she's stable now."
"Did she really poison Olivia?" Catlin's emotions surged at the news.
The doctor nodded. "Miss Hart's body couldn't handle the stress. You need to be more careful."
Catlin, heartbroken, looked at Olivia's pale face. After giving further instructions, the doctor left. Tyler and Chris also wore grim expressions. Catlin's hand trembled as she held Olivia's, as if she'd nearly lost her most precious possession. "Olivia, I'm so sorry…"
"Mom, I'm fine. Don't blame Stefi," Olivia said.
"Why did you eat what she gave you? How dare you!" Catlin exclaimed anxiously.
Olivia replied, "She's my sister. I didn't want to suspect her." She didn't specify what Stephanie had given her, but her words only strengthened Chris and Tyler's suspicions regarding Stephanie's involvement.
Catlin turned to Chris and Tyler. "It seems she can't stay in Long Harbor anymore. Today, she almost killed Olivia." Resentment laced her tone.
Tyler agreed. "I think so too."
Chris offered no objection.
"Mom, don't do this. Tyler, don't listen to her. Stefi already resents you both. If you do this, she might never acknowledge you again," Olivia pleaded.
Catlin responded coldly, "Do we even care if she acknowledges us?"
A pause followed.
"She's never acknowledged us," Catlin added, her voice heavy with disappointment. "We finally found her, and she wouldn't even change her last name or call me Mom."
There was a conflict between Stephanie and Olivia, and Catlin's current cold demeanor was understandable. However, before this incident, Catlin believed she'd treated Stephanie well, showering her with affection that Stephanie never reciprocated, not even calling her Mom. Catlin felt deeply disappointed.
She addressed Tyler forcefully. "You handle it. Make sure she leaves Long Harbor tomorrow. If she stays any longer, Olivia's life will be in danger."
After Stephanie's return, Catlin had attempted a conciliatory approach, but Stephanie's coldness remained. Catlin decided not to dwell on it; regardless, Stephanie couldn't remain in Long Harbor while Olivia recovered.
Tyler nodded. "Got it."
"Mom," Olivia began, but Catlin interrupted. "Don't defend her. From now on, everything prioritizes you."
Chris added, "Let's do as Mrs. Giovanni says."
Sending Stephanie away from Long Harbor was necessary, not only because of Olivia's illness, but also to sever her ties with her unsavory associates.
Tyler was eager to be rid of Stephanie. That night, he went to the central district police station to expedite her removal, but the news shocked him.
"Taken away by a man? Who? She's guilty of attempted poisoning!" he argued.
"Without concrete evidence, we can't detain her. We're still investigating," the officer replied.
Tyler raged, "What do you mean, no evidence? My sister almost died tonight!" His resentment toward Stephanie was intense; he felt a burning desire for retribution.
