Chapter 124

Chris was speechless, his mind blank. "Stephanie!" he exclaimed, furious. Wasn't this what she wanted? Hadn't her recent actions been an attempt to force his hand? But now… it wasn't a game. He was certain Stephanie wasn't playing around.

"Have you thought this through? Those men won't marry you. Do you want to live like this, degrading yourself?"

"I may be degrading myself," she retorted, "but at least I'm alive. You should worry about whether that sickly Olivia will even survive."

Chris gaped at her. "You really are a narrow-minded jerk, and you're hopeless!"

Stephanie turned to leave, adding, "And I won't marry you. You're not what I want, either." If he still didn't understand, his brain was beyond help.

Chris watched her go, trembling with anger. Kevin approached. "Sir," he said.

Chris, breathing heavily, asked, "Do you think she wants to marry the owner of Whispering Bay?"

Kevin was speechless. She was already living there. If she wanted to marry him, it shouldn't be difficult, right? After all, moving in was a step countless women couldn't take.

Seeing Kevin's silence, Chris continued, "Hah, does the owner of Whispering Bay even want her?"

Although Stephanie was the Hart family's real daughter, Chris sensed the owner of Whispering Bay was extraordinary. Who could it be? Could it be the man in Stephanie's office earlier?

Various thoughts swirled in Chris's mind, confusing him. Kevin said, "I'll take you back to change your clothes first." Chris was soaking wet and reeked. Just how bad was Miss Giovanni's temper?

Stephanie returned to her office. Jennifer rushed over. "Boss, I poured a cup of coffee for the guest."

"Okay," Stephanie nodded, entering the office. Jennifer and several colleagues watched curiously. The man was incredibly handsome, even more so than Mr. Ashford, and possessed a powerful aura.

Stephanie entered. Sebastian, drinking coffee with a hint of disdain, looked up. His eyes were so deep and captivating, Stephanie felt drawn to them. She walked over and stood before him, softly calling, "Bubba."

Sebastian put down his cup and pulled her into his arms. Jennifer and the staff, peeking through the blinds, gasped. Their boss had dumped Mr. Ashford for this man! He was exceptionally handsome. And Mr. Ashford? He liked a sickly girl. They were relieved; their boss deserved better.

Inside the office, Stephanie, startled, wrapped her arms around Sebastian's neck, a hint of grievance in her eyes. "What are you doing?" she asked. She was all grown up! And Sebastian didn't remember that night, infuriating her.

"You believe the words of a fool?" Stephanie pouted.
