Chapter 125
It's the truth. In her eyes, Chris Ashford's proposal was simply a sign of scrambled thinking. Of course, this wouldn't last; once he faced Olivia, he'd return to reality.
Sebastian Giovanni's gaze deepened as he asked, "What about Stefi?"
"What's wrong with me?" Her mind was clear; she could distinguish nonsense from sense.
Sebastian continued, "Stefi, are you happy?"
"Happy about what?"
"He said he wants to marry you."
Stephanie replied, "What's there to be happy about?"
"You're already engaged to him."
Stephanie sighed. "Engaged, engaged—it never ends! My engagement is because of the Hart family." The reasons behind her engagement were complex. It certainly wasn't due to any rumor about her liking Chris.
Mentioning the Hart family made the atmosphere even more delicate. Stephanie lowered her head, aware that Sebastian hated her hiding things. Even though she'd been the one threatened, he still wanted to confront her. As expected, he playfully flicked her forehead.
"Ouch!" Stephanie winced.
Sebastian asked, "Will you dare to do it again next time?"
"I won't! I won't!" Next time was a different matter, but she wouldn't defy him in front of Sebastian.
Seeing her like this, the depth in Sebastian's eyes softened. He picked her up. "Let's go eat."
Stephanie thought, This strength! He lifted her effortlessly. Was he that strong, or was she too light?
"Put me down, I can walk myself." After all, this was her studio; being carried out was embarrassing.
Sebastian looked down, his gaze deepening again. "Am I not presentable?"
"Of course you are... but not like this!"
Before she could react, Sebastian carried her out the door. Elliot was waiting by the elevator. When he saw Sebastian carrying Stephanie, the entire office held its breath. Was this a sign of a promotion?
Elliot approached respectfully. "Sir."
Sebastian scanned the office and casually said, "Order lunch from the Lobster House for them."
Everyone's eyes lit up. Their boss's man was generous; he deserved a promotion for such kindness. His generosity far surpassed that of the indecisive Chris.
Stephanie was carried into the car, burying her head in his chest, too shy to show her face. Once inside, she rolled to the side.
"Bro, what are you doing?" What was this? Stephanie stammered, completely at a loss for words. She had grown up. It was one thing to hug at home, but in public?
"What's wrong?"
Seeing her panic, Sebastian smirked knowingly.
Stephanie said, "If this gets out, it could lead to misunderstandings."
"Even though you used to bathe me when I was little, things are different now. You'll have your own life, and I'll have mine."
"If our future partners find out we're still this close, they definitely won't be happy."
Stephanie didn't know what she said to upset Sebastian, but his smile faded, and his eyes turned cold. Feeling the shift in his mood made her uneasy. In the next moment, he pulled her onto his lap.
