Chapter 89
“The Hart family reached out,” Macro said. “They want me to treat Olivia. They’re offering a hefty fee for a house call.”
Macro already knew Stephanie was the Hart family's holopenet danger. After finding their real daughter, her parents should have been relieved and eager to make amends for lost time. But no one predicted that further investigation would reveal the Hart family's true nature: monsters, every single one of them. Even in a family with both a biological and an adopted daughter, the biological child should never be the one cast aside. Yet, the Hart family had been that cruel. Stephanie hadn't lived in the Hart residence for two years, making it painfully obvious that bringing her back wasn't an act of love.
“Do whatever Stefi wants,” Sebastian said coolly. “Make sure they understand that.”
Macro’s eyebrows twitched. “You know your sister’s personality. If I make it clear enough, they’ll probably drop dead from despair.” Simply telling them everything depended on Stephanie’s approval would be a greater blow than outright rejection. If Macro rejected them, the Hart family could delude themselves into thinking they still had a chance. But Stephanie's decision would crush them completely.
Sebastian’s lips curled into a cold smirk. “They bullied Stefi plenty over the last two years. It’s time they learned that arrogance leads to downfall.”
Macro blinked in surprise. Arrogance leading to downfall? Coming from Sebastian? She found it ironic. In Fiorenza, no one was more arrogant than Sebastian. He was the undisputed champion.
“Got it,” Macro said. “Total despair, huh? Alright. I got it.”
“Alright, I got it,” he repeated. “Get them total despair, right?”
“Yes!” Catlin received a call from Macro’s assistant. The voice was indifferent but firm. “Whether Dr. Vitale agrees to a house call depends entirely on Miss Giovanni.”
“What?” Catlin was shocked.
Stephanie would never help Olivia. Her stance was unwavering, leaving no hope. Catlin had hoped that by avoiding Stephanie, a glimmer of hope might remain. She hadn't expected this. The assistant’s words suggested a close relationship between Macro and Stephanie.
“Why should her opinion matter?” Catlin’s emotions were frayed. “Dr. Vitale is highly skilled. Does he need her permission to save lives?”
Seeking Stephanie’s opinion was tantamount to accepting Olivia’s death. Stephanie wouldn’t save Olivia; her attitude was too uncompromising.
“Mrs. Hart, I’ve conveyed Dr. Vitale’s message. You’d better find a way through Miss Giovanni.” The call ended abruptly.
Catlin was distraught. Her hands trembled as she turned to Tyler. “Macro and Stephanie are close…”
Tyler’s expression darkened. “Just how many powerful people does Stephanie know?”
Catlin’s lips quivered. “C–Call Chris. Call Chris right now. Stephanie holds all the power.” The thought sent Catlin into a spiral. “Why does everything depend on Stephanie? What is she to all these people?”
Catlin was furious. Grace had warned her last night, but now, she had no choice. Tyler immediately called Chris. Meanwhile, Chris stood outside Stephanie’s studio.
He answered the call. Tyler's explanation elicited disbelief. “Macro is really close with her?”
“Absolutely,” Tyler confirmed. “Whether Macro treats Olivia or not is entirely up to Stephanie.”
