Finlay and I walked through the village as we shared what we had learned during our time apart. We made our way into the works and ended up at our viewpoint.
“How are you doing? That is a lot of information to take in,” I said.
“I’m okay, but I don’t think it has sunk in yet. My worldview is slowly shifting to adapt,” he told me. I put my arms around him and rested my head on his shoulder. He hugged me back. “I feel sorry for my brother. That is something new,” he said after a while.
“I can understand why. It’s sad to think that if your parents had let him be who he was, even if that meant he wouldn’t become Alpha, he would have grown up to become a happy and productive member of the pack.”
“Yeah. It’s never a good idea when you try to force a square peg into a round hole. Now I find myself wondering what he really wanted out of life. What did he like to do? I mourn that I never got to know that part of my brother,” he told me. I could hear the pain in his voice. I rubbed his chest and he looked down at me, “Thank you, Red,” he said. I knew he wasn’t talking about the chest rub.
“Always,” I simply said and kissed him.
“What are we to do with them?” he asked as I again snuggled into his embrace.
“I was thinking we should reach out to our allies and see if any of them has contact with Sarah’s old pack. If they are willing, maybe the two of them can move to that pack?” I suggested.
“I knew you would have a plan,” he told me.
“I do my best.” We stayed in our spot for a while. As we headed back, we both were in a better mood. “We are in agreement that we won’t force our pup into a role they don’t want or can’t handle, right?” I asked as we were almost home.
“We are in agreement. The only one who will decide what the pup will do, is the pup. We will guide them the best we can,” he agreed. We asked Jake to reach out to our allies and see who had a connection to Little Lake pack. It took us a day, and then we found an ally who was also allies with them. They agreed to set up a meeting with their Alpha and us. Finlay and I agreed we shouldn’t say anything to his mother or Sarah before the meeting. We didn’t want to get their hopes up. Finlay and I both joined the meeting, and after greeting everyone and some polite small talk, Finlay got straight to the point.
“Alpha Marcus, Luna Tina, you know about my brother,” he started, and they nodded. Alpha Marcus had been at the alphas’ meeting. “My brother’s mate, Sarah, is originally from your pack. We are reaching out to see if her family is interested in having contact with her again."
“Oh,” Luna Tina said, looking happy. Her mate smiled at her.
“To be honest, Alpha Finlay, we were hoping that would be the case. Sarah’s family has been worried about her since she mated with your brother, and even more so this last year with the stories we heard about the pack. I had been trying to talk your brother into letting Sarah at least talk to her family. I wasn’t successful,” Alpha Marcus told us. I smiled and felt relieved.
“We would love for her to talk to her family, and if she isn’t set on staying in your pack, we would like nothing more than to welcome her back to ours,” Luna Tina said.
“She will be happy to hear that; she isn’t comfortable in our pack, which is understandable,” I said. “Would it be possible for me to call you Luna Tina and discuss some things?” I then asked, earning me a look from Finlay. There were parts of Sarah’s story I didn’t want to discuss openly in a meeting. I had given Finlay a summed-up version. I thought Luna Tina should know the details to be able to help Sarah.
“Yes, I would be happy to do that,” she agreed.
“My mother has grown close to Sarah. Would it be possible for her to transfer to your pack as well?” Finlay asked.
