Reading Juicy Gossip in Her Mind: Chapter 137 – Scoop Isabella Up
Gordon and Simon returned, visibly agitated. As they passed the backstage door, Danielle cheerfully asked, "Mr. Gonzales, how's your health?"
Usually composed, Gordon struggled to control his emotions. He glared at Danielle, seemingly blaming her for interfering.
"Oh, judging by your expression, you're still not well," Danielle remarked, feigning concern. "Do you need an ambulance?"
Ignoring her, Gordon stalked away. Simon's expression was equally dark. “I can’t believe that little witch escaped before I could get to her,” he muttered. “And if this is true, does that mean Uncle Gordon won't get a divorce?” He left with a scowl.
Isabella, witnessing their reactions, felt triumphant. It was unusual to see Danielle so flustered. Gordon's actions were truly reprehensible.
Turning back to Danielle, Isabella smiled. "It turned out to be a happy accident," Danielle said.
Isabella beamed. Of course, it's good. I want Gordon to try to gain an advantage and end up worse off. She concealed her smugness, wary of arousing Danielle's suspicion.
The Quirks remained with Isabella. Remembering the altered performance sequence, they felt relief and triumph.
As Danielle prepared to monitor online public relations, she explained, "Originally, we planned to wait until Rebecca's play ended to address the allegations from the 'band of wives' and clear Rebecca's name. Now, we've saved ourselves some time." Rosalie asked, "You don't need to clear her name anymore?"
"Because of the wave we've created, people will dig up dirt on Rebecca based on her performance in the first five acts," Danielle replied, tapping her notebook. "Even without evidence for the remaining acts, it'll be hard for them to escape netizen scrutiny from a different perspective."
"Sure enough, here they come," she added coldly.
Everyone was curious, but Danielle's excitement signaled a major move. They didn't press her for details. Isabella, however, quickly offered an explanation:
“Those clowns can’t stand Rebecca’s success. Seeing a chance to clear her name, they immediately started causing a fuss."
The Quirks asked, "The band of wives? They're just ordinary people. How dare they? Do they think they're victims? They've never experienced justice. Do your best, Danielle! Bring them down!"
The Quirks realized Rebecca's school days had been dredged up. Initially positioned on moral high ground to attack Rebecca, they couldn't bear to see her vindicated. If Rebecca's name was cleared, they would become the villains. Danielle, experienced in such situations, was ready to deploy her tactics: releasing scandalous posts, using ghostwriters, and boosting popularity.
In reality, people's perspectives shaped their interpretation of past events. If Rebecca were disliked, any negative information would be readily believed; if she were liked, the narrative would flip. Danielle simply needed to release complete details, leaving no room for misinterpretation. The public's reaction would determine the outcome.
"Maybe we can arrange a perfect ending," Danielle mused.
Isabella's curiosity was piqued. "Are you planning to invite Rebecca to our agency live on the broadcast after the performance ends? That way, we can maximize tonight's excitement."
The Quirks looked hopefully at Danielle. She was under pressure but, as a shrewd manager, remained composed. "I'll wait for public opinion."
The band of wives, aiming to destroy Rebecca, were stalled by the play's altered sequence but wouldn't remain idle. If the situation couldn't be controlled, they'd need to adapt.
Meanwhile, the band of wives were anxious. Team A-list's actions had blindsided them. Ruth's short skit videos mocking Rebecca were ineffective, and the actresses' actions had caused a public opinion shift.
"What should we do now? We've already spoken out and can't stop," one panicked.
"Can't you see? Isabella and Christopher are siding with Rebecca – don't forget their identities! We can't offend them," another said.
"Why don't we see how Rebecca performs first? If she messes up, the internet will criticize her without our help," suggested a third.
"Mrs. Gonzales, say something!" someone urged.
Ruth, having learned from Simon that Gordon had intervened for Rebecca, felt betrayed. Enraged, she sent a message:
Ruth: Look what happened to those people before. It’s either us or her. Mobilize all resources and completely destroy Rebecca! Otherwise, we’re finished!
The wives rallied, deploying ghostwriters and infiltrating the live broadcast. However, the large number of curious and neutral viewers minimized their impact.
Ruth contacted her family, attempting to pressure the Quirk Group to remain neutral, promising not to harm them, targeting only Rebecca.
"No need to say it. Many have already approached them," the reply came, indifferently. She had offended many that night, and the fallout inevitably reached the Quirks.
Christopher was unavailable, and few had Isabella's number. So, people contacted the only person who could intervene: Alexander.
Ignoring his phone, Alexander burst through the backstage door, finding Isabella laughing and texting during the live broadcast. Relieved, he rushed to her.
The remaining staff, intrigued by this imposing man approaching Isabella, forgot about Rebecca, captivated by the mystery surrounding the two. They'd speculated about a connection between Isabella and Christopher. Now, this even more handsome and wealthy man had their gossip radar on high alert. They couldn't hear their conversation but observed the tense atmosphere.
"Isabella!" Alexander's voice was tight.
Isabella, surprised, turned. "Why are you here?"
Alexander, usually impeccably dressed, looked disheveled from running. His eyes were intense as he leaned in, examining her feet, unsure which was injured as both were propped up.
"I saw you fall during the live broadcast and asked Dad. He said you hurt your foot. Since the play's over, I'll take you to the hospital." He reached for her, intending to lift her.
