Chapter 138: Did You Enjoy Yourself Tonight?

Isabella gasped, quickly pushing Alexanderโ€™s shoulder and laughing nervously. "No need, no need. It's just a minor sprain, nothing serious. It'll heal soon. I've dealt with this before." Alexander frowned, about to scold her for carelessness, but then stopped. Heavens! One lie requires a hundred more to cover it up.

He paused, studying her uneasy expression. Relenting under her continued insistence, he asked, "Are you sure it's nothing?"

Isabella forced a smile. "It's nothing. I jumped myselfโ€”how could anything be wrong?"

Alexander realized what she'd done, a mixture of amusement and annoyance flitting across his face. He didn't call her out, however. Then, remembering David's message, his mouth twitched. "Why are you alone? Where's everyone else?"

Isabella, equally puzzled, explained that David and Selena had unexpectedly summoned everyone to watch the stage performance. She'd expected Thalia, her fellow "victim," to stay, but Rosalie had found an excuse to leave her as well, leaving Isabella alone to enjoy the gossipโ€”a situation she didn't mind.

She explained this to Alexander, who subtly shifted his expression. Seemingly helpless, he pulled up a chair. "Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital? Even a little pain warrants some ointment."

The stage was about a meter high; a jump carried a significant risk of injury. Isabella firmly refused. As she spoke, his phone vibrated again.

"Are you very busy? Am I keeping you from work?" she asked.

Since his arm had healed, Alexander had resumed his overtime routine. He'd specifically come because of this incident, making Isabella feel guilty. He responded indifferently, "It's fine," and checked his phone. He'd rushed over and hadn't had a chance to look at it before. The call wasn't a surprise; he'd already received several similar ones at the office. Isabella overheard the caller mention Christopher and the performance, piquing her curiosity.

Alexander glanced at Isabella and calmly replied, "My wife and brother know what they're doing. I have no objections. If anyone's hurt, they should reflect on themselves. What does that have to do with my wife and brother? Yes, I fully support them." The other person seemed furious and fell silent. Alexander politely ended the call.

Looking up, he saw Isabella's sparkling eyes, his heart skipping a beat. His gaze softened. "Did you enjoy yourself tonight?"

Isabella excitedly recounted the gossip, knowing Alexander was a good listener. "Look at Rebecca's performance! Can you believe she only looked at the script for ten minutes? Check the live stream commentsโ€”they're hilarious! I can practically see their jaws dropping."

Alexander smiled indulgently, leaning closer to watch. "She's a professional. It seems your agency has gained a powerful new member."

"But Danielle's still a little worried"

Rebecca was portraying a nervous, inexperienced newcomer. Despite her alluring appearance and figure, her clear expressions, pure eyes, and slightly stiff movements perfectly conveyed innocence. Even the men watching seemed to see her not as a desirable woman, but as a junior colleague or a schoolmate. The "fresh-out-of-university" vibe was palpable.

This scene alone stunned the audience; they barely recognized Rebecca, accustomed as they were to her enchanting roles. No director had ever given her a chance to play anything else. They didn't realize her ability to transform completely. Christopher and the other supporting actors had prepared for various emergency scenarios, but Rebecca barely faltered. Any discrepancies were insignificant; the meaning remained consistent. She performed flawlessly, as if she'd rehearsed with them for days, not Isabella. Working with her was incredibly smooth for Christopher; true to her promise, he only needed to focus on his own part.

The first scene involved discussing an important contract during a business trip. The audience saw Rebecca nervously speaking to Christopher on the phone, meticulous about every detail. Christopher, in a flamboyant robe on stage, said, "It's hard to explain over the phone. Come to my room, we can go over it thoroughly."

Rebecca's expression showed clear confusion, torn between knowing it was inappropriate and the pressure of her superior's request.

"The sooner we finish, the fewer mistakes tomorrow. Otherwise" His tone was oppressively superior.

Rebecca perfectly captured the newcomer's innocence and naivetรฉ, her hesitation and helplessness evident. She ultimately took the risk and went to his room. Upon entering and seeing him in his robe, she felt awkward. She held the contract at a distance, ready to speak immediately, but Christopher waved her closer, saying, "Bring it here so I can see."

Seeing his stern expression, she approached, only to be pulled onto the bed. "Sit down and look together!"

Rebecca jumped, immediately standing, but Christopher pulled her back, acting as if she was overthinking and insulted by her actions. In reality, he was making advances. Rebecca maintained her composure and left with dignity. Unbeknownst to her, her colleagues witnessed her entrance and exit.

Back at the office, a woman stormed up and slapped her. "You shameless b*tch, using work as an excuse to seduce my husband!"

Rebecca was stunned, surrounded by whispering onlookers. She could only cover her ears, muttering, "I didn't, I didn't! I'm the victim!"

Finally, still in character, she screamed, slapped the woman and her superior back. "He abused his power! Why blame me? Because of my looks? Because I'm a woman? Am I easy to bully? You're twisting the truth! You're slandering me!" She panted, her voice hoarse and strained, trembling as if wronged by the world. She embodied a newcomer suffering injustice, unable to defend herself, yet also venting years of pent-up grievances. "You want to drag me into the mud, but I won't let you!"

Her eyes were bloodshot, on the verge of tears, yet none fell. This silent weeping was heartbreaking. This emotional outburst was something even the previous supporting actors hadn't achieved; unprecedented on this stage, leaving even Taylor and Riley speechless.

Even with the slaps and revenge, the pain resonated with the audience, stirring anger and prompting involuntary fist clenching. The live stream exploded. The hired trolls were completely drowned out by the audience's amazement.

In a nursing home ward, several medical staff stared at the large screen in astonishment. They knew Rebecca personally as a good person, but were unsure about her private life. They'd heard about the performance and decided to watch it with Harriet, her grandmother. Unexpectedly, they witnessed a completely different character. Who dared to judge her based solely on her looks?

As they watched, they heard a commotion from Harriet's bed. She had tears in her eyes, but a happy smile. She raised her hand with difficulty, pointing at the screen, proudly muttering, "My granddaughter that's my granddaughter"
