Chapter 155: Poach Scarlett

Javier and Scarlett were once the ideal couple, admired by all. Their breakup, never publicly explained, was widely attributed to the overbearing influence of Freya, a known meddler. It was generally believed Scarlett ended the relationship due to the complexities of dealing with such a domineering family.

However, after recent amicable interactions between Freya and Scarlett on a television show, rumors of a reconciliation began circulating among friends and fans.

Some time ago, Javier contacted the show's production team to propose on the show. Because his appearance was solely for a theme announcement, not a live broadcast, the team agreed, hoping it would boost their ratings. At the time, My Acting Skill, despite its popularity, was embroiled in controversy, and the director and producer wanted a peaceful finale.

Everyone involved, except Scarlett, knew about Javier's plan to avoid disrupting the show.

"So, Mrs. Pearson knew? And she consented?" Danielle asked.

Taylor nodded. "Yes, though she seemed serious, she didn't object."

Overhearing this, Christopher and Rosalie were privy to Isabella's inner thoughts: Damn, no opposition. Mrs. Pearson has grown fond of Scarlett and is open to her becoming her daughter-in-law. While she didn't object to the proposal, she was concerned about the timing, feeling it premature since Javier hadn't reconciled with Scarlett. Yet, seeing her son's initiative, she chose not to interfere.

Mrs. Pearson is perceptive. Proposing under these circumstances isn't just challenging; it's delusional!

Christopher and Rosalie agreed. They couldn't understand why Javier would propose without reconciliation. Did he really think Scarlett would accept?

But, Isabella mused, I'm curious to see Javier's plan. I want to know what he's thinking!

Christopher and Rosalie barely suppressed their laughter.

Anticipation was palpable as they headed to the stage, surrounded by excited onlookers. Danielle, however, looked glum.

"What's wrong, Danielle?" Isabella asked.

"I was considering poaching Scarlett," Danielle replied, looking thoughtful.

"Really? Even though she has her own agency?" Christopher exclaimed.

"That makeshift troupe?" Danielle dismissed. "I don't mean to belittle family-run agencies, but let's be realistic."

She continued, "Scarlett joined a reputable film and television company straight out of university thanks to her mentor. They had a solid career plan for her. But her uncle and mother, lacking industry knowledge, saw acting as a fleeting youth opportunity. They pushed her to maximize earnings early, believing her initial company was too restrictive. So, they convinced her to start her own agency."

"She's so compliant, lacking independent judgment," Christopher observed. "You wouldn't persuade her otherwise."

"I thought so, given the complications of family interfering in an artist's career. But remember her tax compensation issue?" Danielle asked, the others nodding. "While somewhat constrained by family, her clarity of thought remained. She maintained filial duty within her limits, but when pushed too far, she decisively stepped back."

"Joining this variety show likely represents a break to refine her acting skills. She hasn't taken on much other work recently, unusual for her profit-driven approach. She's clearly no longer following her uncle and mother's instructions, prompting me to consider contacting her. As long as she maintains her clarity, she'll realize running a family business isn't for her. She needs a better manager," Danielle concluded resolutely, holding her head high.

Danielle found Scarlett fascinating. Despite her youth, Scarlett had portrayed diverse characters, establishing herself as a talented and versatile actress. Their interaction on the show confirmed Scarlett's genuine passion for acting, beyond mere profit-seeking.

With Scarlett and Rebecca, Danielle felt she could cast almost any leading female role. The potential to dominate popular dramas excited her.

"Looks like you really like Scarlett. I do too," Rosalie smiled.

Danielle agreed. "I value talented and ambitious kids, those who work hard, face hardships, and strive relentlessly."

Isabella thought defensively, Why do you look at me when you talk about hard work? Are you making a point?

Christopher and Rosalie stifled laughter, knowing Danielle was also keen on promoting Isabella.

Isabella had significant resources. Once her identity was fully acknowledged, no one would oppose her. Her status as a wealthy heiress, coupled with her handsome husband, offered a compelling narrative Danielle wanted to explore. Danielle added sarcastically, "Rebecca's been with us a week, and she's already filming and securing endorsements It seems the harder you work, the more you gain"

No matter how skillfully you wield your invisible whip, I won't budge. Because my dream is to gain without pain! Christopher and Rosalie burst into laughter at Isabella's silent declaration.

"What's so funny?" Danielle asked.

Isabella glanced back, prompting Christopher to change the subject. "You wanted to poach Scarlett, but changed your mind?"

Danielle replied, "If the proposal is successful, Scarlett will have Mrs. Pearson's support. She won't need to seek cooperation elsewhere." Isabella and the others smiled knowingly.

"What's going on?" Danielle asked, confused.

Rosalie speculated, "Scarlett definitely won't agree."

"Why?" Isabella was surprised.

Rosalie, flustered, looked to Christopher, who reluctantly explained, "I just got a secret message from Hayden."

"What?" Danielle and Isabella leaned in.

Christopher sighed, "Hayden said Javier's a compulsive gambler who borrowed ten million from Scarlett and never repaid it. That's likely why they broke up."

Danielle was speechless.

Isabella nodded. Secrets don't stay hidden. If Hayden knows, others will find out. What if Linda learns about this? Will she connect it to her missing pearl necklace? Will she wonder how Javier hid it? No, that's revolting and absurd. When I see Javier, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep my eyes where they should be. Christopher and Rosalie recoiled in horror.

Entering the hall, they saw a man in a suit directing the crowd's setup. Their gaze inadvertently fell upon his back.
