Chapter 309: She Is Quite Unfortunate

Isabella's gaze shifted to Ines; her heart ached. The usually radiant girl looked as though she'd lost her soul, her face etched with agony. Ines' eyes were lifeless, her face flushed red, the veins in her forehead bulging. Isabella felt utterly helpless.

Alexander sighed. Ines likely hadn't even realized the extent of her situation. Her innocence, coupled with her physical issues, had gone unnoticed. No one knew her secret, a testament to her family and Aiden's success in shielding her from her pain. Unfortunately, her encounter with Yvonne had shattered everything. It was safe to say she was quite unfortunate.

Ines' phone buzzed. Isabella saw the incoming call. Without hesitation, she answered, dismissed the call, and texted Aiden to come quickly. He needed to comfort his wife; otherwise, it would be too late. Though innocent, he'd inadvertently invited this romantic trouble and bore responsibility.

Chapter 310: Trust Me

Aiden received the message—it was from the room next door. He broke out in a cold sweat. He couldn't risk anything concerning Ines. Ignoring his companions, he rushed off. Moments before, they'd cautioned him about maintaining distance from Yvonne; now, he was gone.

"What's he doing?" Damien asked.

"He looks pale and flustered," Roland added. "Trouble?"

Elaine left without explanation.

Deborah was startled. "What are you doing?"

Elaine grabbed Deborah's hand. "Something's up," she said. "That minx is probably causing trouble. Let's watch Aiden. If she hurts Ines, you two handle her." Damien and Roland followed.

They wondered about their sudden interest in gossip. They followed Aiden.

Meanwhile, Elijah finished speaking with Yvonne. She seemed burdened and exhausted. She didn't understand Elijah's intentions, but his outburst ended without threats. Using the ceremony as an excuse, she got him to leave.

Elijah, harboring a secret, also left, troubled. In the hallway, he saw Aiden rushing toward him.

"How come you're here?" Aiden asked.

Elijah smirked, about to tease Aiden, but stopped, surprised by the group trailing Aiden. Was Aiden meeting Yvonne secretly? Why the entourage?

He assumed a misunderstanding. Perhaps they were seeking a quieter place. He left without interference.

Aiden ignored the group and headed inside. Opening the door, he saw Isabella and Alexander, but his attention went to the crying Ines. His eyes reddened. He hadn't seen her cry like this since their breakup.

He rushed forward to explain, already filled with disastrous assumptions. Alexander had closed the balcony windows after the previous conversation, ensuring privacy.

The group was surprised to see them. Elaine ushered everyone inside and shut the door. "Just as I thought!" she exclaimed. "Juicy gossip!"

Isabella's lips twitched. Why so many people?

Aiden held Ines, his heart aching. "Ines, why are you crying? Did you hear something? Misunderstand something? I can explain. I love you, only you…" He was speechless seeing her tears.

Roland asked Alexander, "What's going on?"

Damien asked, "Did you meet Ines earlier?"

Deborah fetched a towel and hot water. Elaine leaned close to Isabella, her eyes sparkling.

Alexander explained, "Fifteen minutes ago, we found Ines crying. She likely overheard the conversation next door."

Curiosity piqued, Aiden asked, "Did you overhear my conversation with Yvonne?"

Ines cried harder. Aiden cradled her face. "Trust me," he pleaded.

Surprisingly, Ines stopped crying.
