Chapter 338: An Indescribable Sense of Security

They were seated in the couch area; a bedroom with a large bed was located in the back. Alexander, exhausted from his journey, went to the back room once the plane stabilized and quickly fell into a deep sleep. In the main cabin, everyone spoke in hushed tones.

"Why don't you go in and keep him company, Bella?" David suggested.

"Keep an eye on his temperature. I'm worried he might suddenly develop a fever," Selena added, concerned.

"Call us if you need anything," Evian said.

Isabella nodded, rose, and went to the back room. She could hear David and Selena murmuring about Alexander's well-being and their own guilt regarding his condition. Her thoughts raced.

I'm still not sure if David and Selena are to blame… Oh, I know! Since I'll be there, I can investigate. After all, I'm not close to them, so it's reasonable to suspect they might have treated Alexander poorly in the past. I'll observe them closely. If everything's fine, we're all family. But if there's something off… Hmph!

This was the flash of inspiration she'd had earlier—the correct use of her "buff." Her lack of suspicion stemmed from the Quirk family's unwavering acceptance of blame. Logically, however, she should remain skeptical of everyone, especially without the Gossip System to discern friend from foe.

As Isabella entered the room, she left three stunned Quirks and a clueless Callahan behind. Alexander, asleep, only sensed a familiar presence.

His sleep was troubled. He felt trapped in a silent, oppressive space, restrained by an unseen force, leaving him with no escape. To combat the fear, his emotions gradually hollowed out until he felt utterly numb. But the cold, penetrating his soul, remained.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his collarbone. He jolted awake to comforting warmth and a familiar scent, bringing an indescribable sense of security. Looking down, he saw Isabella asleep, her teeth grinding against his collarbone. She'd developed a habit of biting him.

Alexander's initially frost-cold face, a result of his dream, instantly melted. His eyes overflowed with affection. He nuzzled his nose against her forehead until she released her grip.

Isabella had intended to check on Alexander, but the flight had induced sleep, and she slept even more soundly than he did. Even in sleep, she burrowed into his arms. Alexander, aware of his family's presence outside, maintained his composure, not wanting to embarrass himself. Fortunately, the plane was about to descend.

Following the announcement, Alexander awakened Isabella. Still groggy, she mumbled, "How are you feeling? Do you feel unwell anywhere?"

As the Yrinas landscape came into view, the three Quirks outside grew anxious.

At the airport, Christopher and Rosalie encountered numerous Quirk relatives and even media personnel, all eager to confirm Alexander's arrival. Though worried, Christopher and Rosalie reassured them, "He said he'd bring his wife to meet you all, so he's certainly coming."

Meanwhile, Alexander was amused by Isabella's dazed expression. He cradled her face and kissed her, reassuring her of his well-being.

The Quirks were relieved to see Alexander and Isabella emerge healthy. Exiting the corridor, they saw Christopher and Rosalie amidst a welcoming crowd.

Everyone's attention focused on Alexander. His healthy complexion prompted a wave of relief. Twenty years had passed since his last visit, and seeing him in their hometown held special significance.
