Chapter 354: Could This Be Karma? (+5 Pearls)
Isabella was still dissatisfied, especially seeing Alexander already dressed in summer casuals. He was fully clothed, frustrating her. "It's not fair!" she thought. "He's seen all of me, but I haven't seen enough of him!"
Her curiosity grew, her gaze lingering on the part of Alexander's body that had been rigid the previous night. "It should be pretty big, I guess," she mused.
Alexander was horrified. What was she thinking?
Isabella seemed to be the only one capable of such musings. Feeling on the verge of exploding, Alexander tried to change the subject.
Before he could speak, Isabella announced, "I'll get him drunk. Then, when he's defenseless, I'll strip him, have my way with him, and give him a bath. Hehehe"
Alexander was speechless, his cheeks burning. He silently calculated how much alcohol it would take to incapacitate him.
They avoided discussing the previous night, each lost in their thoughts. Isabella felt embarrassed when changing clothes, remembering Alexander's help with her underwear.
Descending the stairs, she encountered Evian, Christopher, and Rosalie, who greeted her with knowing smiles. Even David and Selena at dinner were discreetly observing them.
Initially embarrassed about oversleeping, Isabella soon realized the elders were amused. Whispering to Alexander, she asked, "Is there something I'm not aware of?"
Alexander, having endured teasing from his family all morning, knew exactly what was happening. He wasn't sure what his parents had told everyone, but their smiles were telling.
He explained to Isabella that he'd asked his sisters for help the previous night.
Isabella stared at him, dissatisfied. "Was it really necessary to chicken out and care about my innocence so much? Is he actually thinking of divorcing me?"
At that moment, David's family erupted in a synchronized coughing fit at the dinner table. Everyone stared, amazed by their synchronized choking.
Alexander quickly dispelled Isabella's doubts. Holding her hand under the table, he whispered, "You were already uncomfortable from being drunk, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to control myself and hurt you."
Isabella's ears burned, and she felt reassured. "Hehe! I knew it. He did say he liked me, didn't he?"
Alexander's gaze softened, his adoration evident. Seeing their exchange, the family relaxed. Regardless of the start, they were clearly in love.
Lunch was enjoyable, free of interruptions. In the afternoon, they planned an outing for the newcomers.
However, Carlos received a disturbing phone call. His expression changed as he looked at Nina, who was taking photos. Alexander, seated beside him, was reviewing information from his subordinates. Several investigations were underway, including one into his cousin-in-law, Bennett's alleged affair. Evidence had been swiftly gathered.
Alexander noticed his cousin, Carlos, looked distressed. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Carlos anxiously stood, "Bennett had an accident at the construction site. He's being rescued, but his condition is critical!"
The family rushed to the hospital.
In the car, Isabella mused, "Could this be karma? Disaster struck before I could expose him. He was hit by a heavy object while inspecting the site the project I discussed with Alex. He wasn't optimistic; the location is unsuitable, making construction extremely difficult. Only a top-notch team could handle it, but all were booked. Bennett, only concerned with Quirk Group's investment, chose a random team. Serves him right. The project hasn't even started, and he's already facing consequences for improper site preparation."
