Chapter 367: You Will Not Succeed (+5 Pearls)

Previously, Bennett had boasted to Sloane, Terry, and Vera about the company's value, claiming it as his financial leverage against the Quirk family should they discover his illegitimate children. This led them to believe the company was extremely profitable. Considering Sarah's attitude, the two elders immediately declared, "No way. We want this company, too."

Sarah's face soured. "Nina's and my share of the inheritance will be exchanged for this company!"

However, the more Sarah resisted, the more determined the elders became. Although Sloane preferred tangible assets, her brother intervened, eager to become the company's boss. He fully supported the elders, even exaggerating the company's worth.

Seeing Sarah's firm refusal, the elders played the emotional card. "This is Bennett's last wish," they said. "Unlike you, we value family. This is all we want; everything else belongs to the Quirks. This is the only thing left to the Eatons. You can't take it! Give us the company, and we'll forgo all other inheritance."

Sloane and her children then claimed the company was bequeathed to them by Bennett, who'd said he wouldn't rest in peace if Sarah took it.

The Quirks struggled to suppress their laughter.

Sarah, however, pressed on. Nina added, "Mom, we're not interested."

Sarah, visibly struggling, finally relented. "All right," she said reluctantly, "I agree, but on one condition."

The others eyed Sarah cautiously, fearing she might manipulate the company's distribution.

Sarah stated, "I want Nina removed from the Eaton family registry. I also want you all to sign an agreement severing ties with her. From now on, Nina will no longer be your granddaughter, and her future care will be entirely separate from yours."

This distressed the elders and displeased Sloane. They knew that Nina provided security and a familial connection for their future. As she matured, she'd care for them and her younger siblingsโ€”something no legal document could replace.

"Nina is part of the Eaton family," Terry said. "Your actions are unethical."

Sarah was struck anew by their shamelessness. Had she been blind to their inhumanity?

Nina, indignant, retorted, "You disowned me just now. Does age grant you the right to be inconsistent?"

Vera immediately responded, "We were upset by your mother. You're too young to understand."

Nina understood perfectly. She knew her relatives wanted to exploit her indefinitely, and she refused.

"You never liked me, yet now you cling to me, expecting support in your old age. I'm not ignorant!" Nina's eyes reddened. Her voice, a mix of hurt and determination, continued, "But you won't succeed. I'd rather die than support you. Sue me if you like!"

Terry and Vera, deeply upset by Nina's antagonism, were about to reprimand her when Sarah interrupted. "You disagree? Fine. We'll fight for the company. You can't manage it, so we'll win the lawsuit."

Sloane's brother panicked. He coveted the company, seeing it as his only readily accessible inheritance. Even if he mismanaged it, selling itโ€”especially after a potential IPO as Bennett had suggestedโ€”would likely yield billions, far surpassing the other inheritances.
