Listen to this chapter:

As I was dragged away by the police, she looked at me with such contempt. All the attention she lavished on me only showed how ruthless she'd been. Her final reaction left everyone utterly speechless.

Isabella smirked. Wally Sokick is nothing at all. She locked eyes with Carlos and demanded, "Do you really think my role in the past was a lie, huh? Do you wish to see me"

She trailed off. When she sabotaged Carlos, she only ruined his reputation. Any attempt at retaliation would destroy everything for her.

Is Carlos more noble in comparison? David and his family shared her sentiments. It's a false dichotomy. She's simply unrepentant.

Alexander thought that such a person would probably never reflect on her actions in her lifetime. Hence, he resolved to hire the most formidable lawyer for the lawsuit, to prolong her prison sentence and delay her return to society to prevent further trouble. After all, one always has to pay the price for one's actions.

In the face of Penelope's final questioning, Carlos showed her no mercy this time. He retorted outright, "I reckon you want to live, since you knew to call an ambulance yourself."

That was truly the first time anyone had ever heard Carlos speak with sarcastic undertones. In an instant, Penelope's facade shattered. Her hypocritical and obsessive love was laid bare at that moment, ushering in the greatest mockery. Realization dawned on everyone present. He's right. If she were truly madly in love to that extent, would she have called an ambulance to save herself? To put it bluntly, had someone else discovered her suicide attempt last night and called an ambulance, she would have gained more sympathy.

In the end, Penelope remained crying and wailingly asserted her sincerity and love for Carlos. However, everyone dismissed it as hearsay. The matter of the false accusation simply came to an end.

It was only when everyone left that they learned the livestream was Isabella's doing. Everyone in the Quirk family looked at Isabella in surprise.

Smiling, Isabella explained, "Actually, I saw several media personnel when I arrived, including some live streamers. I felt that waiting for the police would take too long, and we couldn't afford delayed justice. A delay would damage our reputation. So, I arranged for the live streamer to expose the truth immediately. After all, only when the involved party speaks up will those deceived realize they've been fooled."

After hearing this, Carlos breathed a sigh of relief. He stepped forward and said with a smile, "Isabella, I owe you one."

Isabella waved a dismissive hand. "It's just my experience from being a celebrity back home."

Chapter 388: Lucky Star

Upon hearing that, Christopher immediately asked, "Then, were we captured just now?"

"I warned the live streamer, so he wouldn't dare [publicize anything]. After all, he secretly entered the police station for the livestream, so he wouldn't dare publicize anyone's appearance. He likely didn't even capture faces. At most, he filmed the video evidence and Penelope."

Her manager, Danielle, warned her about this before she came. In Yrinas, their fame wasn't as great as back home, so they could act freely. But if they were caught on camera during a livestream, it would be easy for people to recognize them. Once it circulated back home, even if there was nothing inherently negative, it would still stir up a media storm.

Danielle had been handling several major projects recently and didn't have time to manage Isabella. Consequently, she reminded Isabella not to cause trouble.

Isabella hoped to enjoy her freedom a while longer, so she certainly didn't want to be exposed to the public eye so soon. Fortunately, I warned the live streamer before entering, hinting that publicly revealing faces without permission might get him sued. Naturally, the local live streamer didn't dare offend the Quirk family. Otherwise, it would have been easy for him to be exposed. It doesn't matter much, but if everyone were to find out about my nickname as Justice Upholder and Gossip Queen, it would be difficult for me to enjoy gossip in the future.

Upon hearing Isabella's internal monologue, David and his family could hardly contain their laughter. Sure enough, she's still worried about her identity being revealed, fearing she wouldn't be able to enjoy gossip anymore once people become wary of her.

With a smile, Alexander took Isabella's hand and led her out.

Isabella's thoughts continued. Anyway, it's such an odd coincidence. Why is it that as soon as I arrived, something happened to both of Aunt Caitlin's children? Moreover, looking at Janice, I have a nagging feeling that more trouble is on the horizon. Is there truly some kind of metaphysics at play? Would the Quirk family start seeing me as a jinx in the future?

David and his family didn't take kindly to those words, for Isabella was their lucky star.
