After all, one always has to pay the price for one's actions.

In the face of Penelope's final questioning, Carlos showed her no mercy this time. He retorted outright, "I reckon you want to live, since you knew to call an ambulance yourself."

That was truly the first time anyone had ever heard Carlos speak with sarcastic undertones. In an instant, Penelope's facade shattered.
