Chapter 63: Men Like Him Should Be Buried

Isabella, by nature, was not inclined to rashly leap into situations where she might play the hero, especially if it risked humiliation. Wouldn't that be ironic?

Before acting, Isabella asked Alexander in a subdued voice, "Are you the boss of this entire mall?"

Visibly surprised, Alexander hesitantly replied, "Yes."

Isabella pressed on, "So, I have free rein here?"

Alexander vaguely affirmed, "More or less."

Her next question was bold: "Should I take that dress?"

Alexander seemed to understand her intentions. He quickly texted his assistant. He suspected that if Isabella didn't act fast, the couple behind him would lose patience. It was understandable; his family was known for its warm hearts.

When Isabella suddenly shouted, even Alexander felt the collective sigh of resignation from those behind him. Startled onlookers turned, their faces marked with disbelief. Jessica, observing Isabella's confused demeanor, didn't understand until she saw Evian, the compassionate hospital director, smiling and waving. Despite the embarrassment of being seen in an unkempt state, Jessica knew they were there to support her.

Jennie, however, was perplexed, unsure of Isabella's intentions. "Are they your friends, Jessica?" she asked tentatively.

Jessica replied simply, "I don't know them," leaving Jennie speechless.

Upon closer inspection, Jennie recognized Isabella, though online photosโ€”heavily styled professional model shotsโ€”made her look quite different. Now, makeup-free, she looked vibrant and youthful, more like a university student than a celebrity.

Jennie was also surprised by Isabella's companion. His striking appearance and composed demeanor, his eyes reflecting a deep, glossy black opal sheen, conveyed aloofness and pride. While Jennie often saw beautiful people, this man combined exceptional charisma with stunning looks; even famous actor William would seem ordinary in comparison.

Jennie noted their sophisticated attire, suggesting wealth or high status. Still, this didn't justify Isabella's attempt to claim the reserved dress.

"Miss, I've already reserved this dress," Jennie declared.

Unfazed, Isabella smiled confidently. "No payment was made; how can it be considered sold? I believe this dress suits me better."

Jennie's face tightened. Isabella's words echoed a previous conversation with Jessica. "I've made my decision, and I can afford it. Miss, you're late," Jennie retorted, turning before receiving a reply. Before the saleswoman could react, a directive was transmitted through the sales associates' earpieces. The saleswoman, about to finalize the transaction, returned Jennie's supplementary card. Jennie demanded, "What do you mean?"

The saleswoman apologized professionally, "I'm sorry, but this dress is no longer for sale, per our manager's directive." She offered a ten percent discount on another item. "Are you refusing to sell it to me? You prefer her?" Jennie pointed at Isabella.

Isabella stepped forward, presenting the exclusive membership card Alexander had given her.

The saleswoman's eyes widened. "Would you like this dress, Miss?" she asked Isabella.

Isabella nodded.

"No problem, would you like to try it on?" the saleswoman replied eagerly.

"Hey! Wait, what on earth is thisโ€”" Jennie exclaimed.

The saleswoman clarified, "This is our store's VVIP membership card, granting access to all items not publicly available for sale. I'm sorry, Ms. Woods, but even Mr. Sawyer's main card wouldn't suffice, let alone the supplementary card."

Jennie's face reddened with embarrassment. Knowing further argument was pointless, she felt powerless, departing with a resentful glance at Isabella. Jessica still intended to thank Evian, but Evian was gone. Jessica simply nodded towards Isabella and Alexander, acknowledging their kindness.

After Jessica left, Isabella planned to try on the dress.

"Are you sure about this one? Do you like it?" Alexander asked, suspecting Isabella was provoking him and doubting she genuinely liked the dress with its numerous straps.

"I do like it," Isabella asserted, surprising Alexander. "Every time I think about Jennie's face when she sees me in this dress during the variety show recording, I can't help but feel thrilled!"

Alexander realized her motive. So, this is the kind of affection you had in mind, he mused.

Meanwhile, Jessica exited the shop, her emotions in disarray. Her phone rang; a frosty voice greeted her. "Did you hit Jennie?"

Jessica scoffed sarcastically. "Hehโ€ฆ So she ratted me out? William, if not for this, I doubt you'd have called, right?"

William's voice remained cold. "Jessica, you haven't reflected on your actions."

"Reflect on what? Deeds I never committed, or why you've tarnished my reputation? Or why my husband, swayed by another woman's narrative, cut off my card? Perhaps I should consider a new husbandโ€ฆ"

The mention of "divorce" froze Jessica.

"Go apologize to Jennie!" William demanded.

Shock rooted Jessica. "Aren't you even going to ask what happened?"

"I don't even recognize you anymore, William. Since you've brought it up, fine, let's get a divorce," Jessica said wearily.

William paused. "I'm serious, Jessica. I'm not joking."

"So was I," she replied firmly.

William's voice grew impatient. "How long will you keep this up? You're exhausting my love. But fine, I'll clean up your messes. Take time to cool off. Once I've sorted thingsโ€ฆ" The line went dead before Jessica could explain.

A tightness gripped her chest; she felt herself swaying, but Evian and Selena caught her before she fell. They had been nearby, debating whether to follow Isabella and Alexander. Seeing Jessica's pain, Evian said gently, "Come on, I'll take you to the hospital."

That evening, Isabella and Alexander had collected Selena and Callahan. They learned Evian had taken Jessica to the hospital. Selena relayed the overheard phone conversation.

Isabella listened, her eyes widening in disbelief. How could he so blatantly ignore his wife's struggles and defend the mistress? He even dares to proclaim his love and innocence. Men like him should be buried.
