Chapter 94: Magic Defeating Magic – Finished

Maverick was surprised when Mirabelle's assistant rushed over to scold him. Annoyed, he retorted, "You're Mirabelle's assistant. What are you talking about?"

The young woman started to speak, but Mirabelle, tears welling in her eyes, desperately stopped her. "Don't tell him!" However, the exasperated assistant blurted out, "Mira was threatened by Mr. Lynch. If she didn't leave you, he would blacklist you, even harm you. Remember the accident on set and the struggle to get roles? That was all because Lynch wanted Mira. In the end, Mira chose you, sacrificing everything and playing the villain. And what did you do? After gaining power, you saw Mira abandoned by Lynch, but you didn't return to her; you made her life difficult. Mira suffered but never came back, fearing you'd look down on her. Now, you…" She spoke rapidly and chaotically, her words sounding like an angry, unrestrained defense of Mirabelle.

Isabella thought, She's trembling with guilt. I finally understand what Mirabelle was doing with her phone earlier—contacting her assistant for this dramatic performance! The more Isabella considered it, the more excited she became. This is more entertaining than a TV series!

Christopher fidgeted, wanting to join the unfolding gossip. Hendrick, growing impatient, announced he was going to the restroom, leaving only two agents exchanging glances. Christopher, unable to leave, continued listening to Isabella's thoughts.

Meanwhile, Isabella noticed commotion from the other side. Fortunately, she was well-hidden and saw Hendrick sneaking closer. Another one!

After the assistant's story, Maverick stared at Mirabelle in disbelief. "Mirabelle! Is this true?" Mirabelle just cried, avoiding his gaze.

Danielle, however, wasn't fooled. "You're not seriously believing her just because she blurted all that out, are you?" Danielle frowned, skeptical. She understood Mirabelle and doubted the latter's selflessness. "Do you have any evidence?"

The assistant glared at Danielle. "What evidence can be produced? Danielle, aren't you being malicious? If you hadn't told Mira you hoped they'd break up, asking her not to hold Maverick back, she wouldn't have made up her mind."

Maverick turned to Danielle, his gaze accusing. He saw her as a malicious woman who reveled in discord. Danielle was hurt; they'd been comrades for years. "I did say that," she admitted.

Maverick's eyes reddened. "However, you said it right in front of me," Danielle pointed out.

Isabella thought, Oh, she said it angrily after the fire incident. As his agent, it seemed perfectly reasonable not to want her talent dating a problematic woman. Perhaps Maverick remembered the circumstances. His gaze remained suspicious. "Is that the only time you did it?" He still believed Danielle harbored feelings for him and wanted Mirabelle gone.

Even moments before, Danielle held onto hope that Maverick would see his wrongs. But now, her heart grew cold. She sneered. "Yes. I dare to confront."

Mirabelle buried her head in her assistant's shoulder. "It's true. Maverick, don't blame Danielle. She's done a lot for you. What happened it was a long time ago. I did it willingly, never expecting you to find out. We've missed our chance; don't pursue the truth anymore."

Isabella thought, Impressive. If she does this again, I'm calling the police.

Mirabelle's assistant added, "That's not right! Because of her sacrifice, he could focus on acting. Yet, he credits Danielle. What about Mira's sacrifice? He mistreats her! That's not fair!"

Isabella thought, Without the Gossip System, I'd be swayed, let alone Maverick, the hopeless romantic.

Tears streamed down Maverick's face. "Mirabelle, is what she said true? I need to hear it from you."

Mirabelle retorted, "It's all lies!" She tried to leave, but Maverick grabbed her arm. Another painful love story seemed about to unfold.

Danielle massaged her temples, exhausted. She didn't care if others dismissed her accomplishments; she knew who Maverick would believe. What she did was for her career; she didn't need his gratitude. Collaboration would have been ideal, but if not, it didn't matter. Disappointment leads to drastic measures.

Without a word, Danielle walked away. Maverick panicked, calling, "Dani."

Danielle turned, her voice cold. "Let me emphasize this again. I am only your agent. I've said what needs to be said. If you choose not to listen, I have no right to interfere with your personal affairs." She left without hesitation.

Isabella thought, Now, I bet not even a bet could stop Danielle from breaking the contract.

Christopher, inside, was startled. "Hayden, we can start poaching now!"

Hayden was confused. "Huh?"

Though Danielle left, Isabella couldn't. Mirabelle's assistant tactfully departed, leaving Maverick and Mirabelle alone on the balcony. Mirabelle spoke passionately, filling Maverick with regret.

Isabella thought, It's not that men are easily deceived; they're overconfident and arrogant, assuming devotion. Even an obvious ploy can ensnare them. Tsk, tsk, they're kissing again! Wait, another spectator! He didn't even stop this.

Mirabelle, panting, pushed Maverick away. "No, you can't. You should go to Danielle. Didn't you propose to her? I… I have a boyfriend. I can't be unfaithful to Hendrick."

Maverick was heartbroken. "My feelings toward Danielle are merely… admiration. Do you love me or him, Mira? You're not allowed to lie to me!"

Mirabelle was speechless when Hendrick arrived. "What are you two doing?"

Mirabelle panicked, pushing Maverick away. Isabella thought, Mirabelle wants to balance both, not letting Hendrick see her devotion to Maverick.

Maverick said, "Hendrick, there's something I need to tell you…"

Mirabelle interrupted. "Maverick, we've said all we needed to. I will help you complete this stage play. You should go home now. Please." Her voice was a whisper. Maverick, seeing her distress, suppressed his emotions and left.

Only two people remained. Before Mirabelle could speak, Hendrick kissed her.

Isabella thought, Your real intention is to savor what Maverick used before. You're a crazy, obsessive fan! Mirabelle believed Hendrick saw something, interpreting his actions as possessiveness.

"Hendrick, I'm sorry, I… I didn't have the strength to resist. He forced me due to his past emotions. I… I do love you," Mirabelle pleaded.

"I know. Don't be afraid." Hendrick released her, wiping saliva from his mouth. "I'm willing to leave and allow you two to reconcile."

Mirabelle was taken aback. "What… what are you talking about?"

Hendrick, acting overly kind, said, "I know you two love each other. You don't have to worry about me. I love you, and all I want is for you to be happy. I will find a way to prevent you two from being criticized online."

Mirabelle was baffled, her skills rendered useless. Isabella grinned. Hilarious. As they say, only magic can defeat magic.
