Josie was completely shocked. “Are you out of your mind? I never agreed to be with you before, so what makes you think I’d agree now?”

“Is it because of Tina?”

A fleeting look of ruthlessness flashed across Jaden’s face.

He said, “Don’t mention that woman to me. She’s trash. I was deceived by her. If you hadn’t rejected me back then, I would never have dated her.

“I only got together with her initially to make you angry.

“I wanted to make you jealous, to make you pay more attention to me. I only fell for her trick because of you, Josie. You can’t abandon me now!”

Josie felt that not only was he crazy, but he was also utterly deranged.

Josie was angered into laughter. “Listen to what you’re saying.

“So, I have to take responsibility for your actions? Are you lacking intelligence or unable to take care of yourself?

“Did I force you to make me upset? Or did I make you get involved with Tina?

“I never agreed to be with you. Why are you angry at me? I don’t like you, and I don’t even care about you.

“What’s the point of all this? Jaden, don’t make excuses for your foolishness. I’m not taking the blame for this.

“Besides, do you really think Tina is the type of woman who is obedient and tenderly considerate? Why does she fit your aesthetic so well?

“It’s as if she were designed specifically to deceive you.

“The Monroe family has some influence. You wouldn’t be unable to look into something like this, would you?”

Josie walked around him to enter the dormitory.

“What do you mean?” Jaden followed her, trying to grab her. “Josie, explain what’s going on with Tina.”

Before he could touch Josie, someone grabbed his wrist.

Sean pushed him away. “She’s not your parent. Why do you have to come to her for everything?

“The Monroe family is a prominent family in Aloville, and you’ve studied so much. Can’t you use your own head?”

Sean irritably stood in front of Josie to prevent Jaden from looking at her. He said, “Get out of my sight. Don’t let me catch you coming to see her again. If there’s a next time, I won’t be so polite!”

His gaze was too piercing, like a sharp ice blade, making Jaden feel utterly flayed.

Jaden felt a chill throughout his body, both pained and cold. His dignity, which he had always prided himself on, was utterly trampled by Sean.

He was utterly mortified, completely stripped of his former high–and–mighty demeanor.

Only then did Jaden realize that Josie had truly changed, her heart having hardened.

She would no longer spare him a glance, regardless of whether he apologized or played the victim.

He had utterly lost her, not even having the chance to be friends with her.

If he were to clear up the matter with Tina and sever ties with David’s team, he wondered if she would accept him into her team.

Jaden wiped the corner of his eye and spoke persistently. “What right do you have to stop me from seeing Josie?

“She’s my friend, and she used to care about me a lot. I just made a mistake, and I’ll correct it. Josie, wait for me.

“Wait for me to figure some things out, then I’ll come find you. From now on, I’ll stand completely by your side and never hurt you again!”

Josie peered out from behind Sean. “He certainly has the right to stop you, because he’s my boyfriend!”

Josie placed her hand in Sean’s. “Don’t come looking for me again. I don’t care what you do. I don’t need you to take my side.

“Sean, let’s go.”

Josie pulled Sean away, not even looking at him again.

Jaden thought, ‘Why did this happen? Why did things turn out this way?’

Jaden painfully knelt down. He was the one who liked Josie first, so he wondered why she chose to be with Sean.

He wondered why she would never like him.
