Listen to this chapter:

Josie rushed over and covered his mouth. โ€œWe canโ€™t talk about this. Itโ€™s my secret. I wonโ€™t tell anyone."

โ€œThose bad guys. All of them must go to jail. I wonโ€™t let a single one offโ€ฆโ€

Perhaps over the past year, Sean had doted on her too much, making her completely lose her guard in front of him.

Sean grabbed Josie. โ€œWho are the bad guys? Who is going to jail?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re so handsome!โ€ Josie looked up at him, giggling. โ€œHow can you be so good-looking?โ€

She reached out to touch his face and leaned in to kiss him.

Sean wore a helpless expression. It seemed she was truly drunk and talking nonsense. He almost believed Josie had some real secret.

He thought, โ€˜Her secret is likely the harm inflicted upon her by Davidโ€™s team in the past. They are not good memories, so I shouldnโ€™t ask. I canโ€™t bear for her to reopen old wounds.โ€™

โ€œLittle drunkard, Iโ€™ll take you to a place!โ€ Sean scooped her up.

Startled, Josie let out a soft gasp and tightly wrapped her arms around his neck.

By the time Sean carried her into the car, she was already asleep in his arms.

Sean didnโ€™t want to wake her and instructed the driver to start the car.

He wondered, โ€˜I donโ€™t understand. Isnโ€™t she allergic to alcohol? Why is she drinking heavily again, without learning her lesson? Or was there more to her allergic reaction that time?โ€™

When she woke up again, it was already early the next day.

Josie thought, โ€˜Oh no!โ€™

She shot up from bed. She had something important to do today. She wondered what time it was.

She frantically searched for her phone, accidentally falling off the bed. That was when she realized something was amiss.

She thought, โ€˜Where is this place? Why am I here?โ€™

Josie gazed blankly at her surroundings. She was in a charmingly decorated bedroom with light purple curtains, a heart-shaped lamp, and a soft, comfortable bed.

This was definitely not a hotel, nor the Reedshaw family home, and certainly not her dorm.

Josie scrambled up from the floor, only to realize her clothes were different from yesterdayโ€™s. She was wearing cartoon pajamas.

Josie started screaming.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€ Sean rushed in from outside the door.

He had an apron on and was still holding a spatula.

Seeing him, Josieโ€™s face flushed crimson, but at the same time, she felt a slight relief. โ€œNothingโ€ฆโ€

She unconsciously rubbed her bottom. It was still a bit sore from the fall.

โ€œDid you fall off the bed?โ€ Sean couldnโ€™t help but laugh. He reached out and pulled her closer to examine her. โ€œDid you get injured? Let me see!โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine. I didnโ€™t get injured!โ€ Josie waved her hand, her face flushed. โ€œSean, where am I?โ€

Sean raised his hand and rubbed the top of her head. โ€œDonโ€™t you remember?โ€

โ€œNo!โ€ Josie lowered her head, twisting her fingers together, terribly nervous.

For over a year, although they were close, they hadnโ€™t slept together.

Last night she drank too much, and she wondered if anything happened between them.

Josie didnโ€™t dare to imagine what could have happened.

Sean looked helpless. โ€œChange your clothes and come out. Then, Iโ€™ll tell you!โ€

He quickly returned to the kitchen. Josie didnโ€™t know what he was cooking, but it smelled quite good.

Josie sniffed and turned to change her clothes.

She discovered that the clothes she wore yesterday were gone. The closet was full of new clothes in her size.

Her cheeks flushed slightly, and a wave of joy swelled in her heart.

She reached out and picked a professional-looking business suit to put on, then walked out of the room after cleaning herself up.

โ€œCome eat!โ€ Sean said, bringing breakfast out from the kitchen.

Josie walked to the table, sat down, and nervously looked around the room.

She thought, โ€˜Why does it feel vaguely familiar?โ€™

Sean handed her a glass of milk. โ€œI told you last night. Donโ€™t you remember anything?โ€

Josie said while recalling, โ€œYou said you were going to take me somewhere. I donโ€™t remember anything after that!โ€

She even forgot how she changed clothes and got into bed.

โ€œEat first, then Iโ€™ll show you around!โ€ Sean wasnโ€™t in a hurry to tell her where they were.

โ€œYouโ€™re not supposed to drink, so how did you get drunk again? Arenโ€™t you afraid of getting into trouble?โ€ Sean looked a bit serious.

Josie stuck out her tongue.

She said, โ€œFruit wine is delicious. Itโ€™s sweet and not spicy. And that day, I had an allergic reaction because Iโ€™d taken medicine earlier. I only remembered after taking a sip. I thought a small amount would be fine!โ€
