Chapter 394
She didnโt know that she ended up in the hospital, which must have scared Sean.
She said, โIโm sorry, Sean. I forgot to tell you about it later.โ
Thinking of what happened that night, Sean felt a pang.
He thought, โForget it. Itโs been so long anyway. She is my girlfriend now, so whatโs there to fuss about?โ
He said, โForget it, I donโt want to bicker with you. Eat quickly. There are other things to do after this!โ
Josie looked suspicious, thinking as she ate, โDid I miss something?โ
After a long while, she seemed to discover something.
She asked, โThe decor and the furniture are all things I said I liked before!โ
It wasnโt narcissism. Everything in the room felt too similar, like things she had seen in magazines before.
It happened a long time ago when she saw a home decor magazine lying on the Reedshaw familyโs coffee table.
Claire had mentioned that Elliot was moving out and was looking for a house to renovate, and she had asked what kind of decor Josie preferred.
Josie had no idea that everything she said had been meticulously noted by Sean.
Sean looked satisfied. โSo you still remember. Did you notice anything?โ
He gently tapped her nose. โThis is your graduation gift. Itโs our home.
โIt took me over a year, from buying the place to renovating it and picking out all this furniture and these items. Do you like it?โ
Josieโs eyes welled up. โYes, I love it. How could you be so wonderful, preparing all of this so long ago?โ
โFrom the day you agreed to be my girlfriend, I wanted a place that belonged only to the two of us.โ Sean stood up, walked to Josieโs side, bent down, and picked her up.
He said, โThe Reedshaw family is full of people, and the school isnโt convenient for us.
โI couldnโt bear to take you elsewhere because I wanted us to be alone. So, of course, I had to prepare a home for you.
โRenovation is tiring work. I did consider picking things out with you and decorating our home together, but after thinking it over, I still couldnโt bear to see you getting tired.
โJosie, I love you! This will be our home from now on, okay?โ
Josie burst into tears. โOkay, I have a home now. Thank you, Sean. I love you so much!โ
She might not yet know how to love someone, but she knew that she might never be able to let go of Sean.
Sean put up her hair and said, โThen letโs not go anywhere today, okay? Just spend the day with me.โ
Josie really wanted to agree, but she had something very important to do, and she had already made plans.
โIโฆโ Josie wrapped her arms around his neck.
She asked, โHow about I spend a whole day with you, starting from this afternoon?โ
โDo you have plans?โ Sean raised an eyebrow at her.
Josie nodded. โIโve been preparing for this for a year, and I donโt want to miss it. Sean, we have plenty of time ahead of us, okay?โ
โYou little fool!โ Sean pulled her into his arms and kissed her.
He said, โWeโre going to spend our lives together. How can I keep clinging to you when you have important matters?
โWhere are you going? Should I go with you?โ
โI have an appointment with Ian at the research institute,โ Josie said, leaning into his arms, her lips a little sore.
She added, โI promise Iโll be done quickly. Then I will spend this afternoon with you alone.โ
At the research institute, Ian saw that Josie couldnโt stop smiling.
He said, โWelcome, Josie. Want to check out the lab?โ
โNot today. I still need to finalize my paper!โ Josie waved her hand. โHave you finished revising your paper? And have you doubleโchecked the experimental results?โ
Ian nodded.
He said, โRest assured, thereโs no doubt. Once published, it will certainly make an impact.
โMoreover, Digby has validated the experimental results, which are truly useful for our future research.
โJosie, how did you ever predict this outcome? Thatโs incredible!โ
Josie smiled and shook her head.
She said, โIโm not incredible. I just like to run my mind wildly. You are the one whoโs incredible.
โYou actually made the experiment a success. Donโt worry, your hard work this past year wonโt be in vain.
โThen Iโll be going now.โ
Seeing that she had no intention of talking to him any further, Ian was truly disappointed.
For over a year, his relationship with Josie had made no progress whatsoever.
Originally, he thought that as long as he worked hard on the experiment, once it succeeded, Josie would surely be impressed with him. But now it seemed that his wish had failed.
