Chapter 409
Natalie was plunged into hell; her entire body went cold. She looked at the paper on her phone, trembling all over.
She asked, โItโs Josie, isnโt it? She took this project and conducted a full experiment, just to spite me? Josie is such a bitch. Why is she doing this to me?โ
Natalie wailed, and after her tears, she panicked. โProfessor, you canโt abandon me. This isnโt my fault; I didnโt do anything wrong. Josie is at fault. It must be her. Check again thoroughly. The experimental data she presented must be incorrect. It canโt be real. My paper was given to me by Aiden. Is Aiden not as good as Josie? Is what he wrote less accurate than what Josie wrote? This is impossible!โ
Natalie was completely distraught. She kept defending herself, trying to prove she hadnโt done anything wrong.
โI see how it is!โ David turned the car and went straight to the Brown family. He wondered why Josie hadnโt published the paper under her own name. If she had, she would have been even more triumphant now.
David thought, โIt turns out she wasnโt confident she could win against Aiden, so she used Ian. I am surprised that she could get another person to do her bidding so quickly. I have truly underestimated her!โ
Aiden wasnโt home. He had been entertaining clients a lot recently for company business. He had been drinking. When he returned, he ran into David and Natalie at the door.
โProfessor, why are you here?โ Aiden leaned against the car door and lit a cigarette, showing no intention of inviting them inside.
David didnโt mind that. โWere all the papers Natalie published this year written by you? Did you conduct experiments on them?โ
โNo!โ Aiden shook his head, exhaled a puff of smoke, and his gaze slowly fell on Natalie. He explained, โI only gave her the first paper and the subsequent derivation data. As for the experiments, only the first phase was actually conducted. I didnโt do anything later. Josie knew about this. After you assigned the work, she mentioned wanting to conduct experiments. Also, after my paperโs data came out, she revised it for me, but I felt her revisions were unrealistic, so I changed it back!โ
Aiden scoffed. โToday, thereโs quite a buzz in the circle. Professor, youโre here to see me about this, arenโt you? What Iโve told you is everything I know!โ
His smile deepened. โBack then, I was truly blind to actually think Josie was an incompetent, foolish girl who got in by luck. Now that I think about it, I was terribly wrong. Perhaps the data she revised for me back then was the correct data. She has always been better at calculations than us. Itโs just that you always thought she had wild ideasโฆโ
Aiden walked into the room. โYou can leave now. I canโt help with this. Professor, listen to me. Instead of promoting a useless person, you should focus on the research you have. Donโt forget that Brown Group invested a lot of money this time. If you waste Brown Groupโs investment like you did with Monroe Groupโs money, your reputation will be ruined!โ
Perhaps because he was a bit drunk, for the first time in his life, he was quite rude to David.
โYou bastard, Aiden!โ Natalie suddenly rushed out of the car and kicked Aiden in the lower back. Aiden stumbled and fell to the ground. Natalie pounced on him, sat on his lower back, grabbed his hair, and slammed his head against the ground. He said, โHow dare you trick me? You said that with these papers, I could gradually make a name for myself in the medical field. And what happened? Since you showed it to Josie, why didnโt you tell me beforehand? Why are you doing this to me? Youโre doing this on purpose, arenโt you? Youโre deliberately trying to ruin me.โ
